Hello all! For those of yall who’ve had a girl before and after her spay, were there any major behavioral differences?

I’m fixing to get Penny spayed and I’m curious about what to expect.

I had nothing but positive changes – as in no more mounting my arm then spraying me with urine.
Coco was an adult female ( about 2 plus years) when she was spayed, so I don’t know how the “Emo Teen Bun” Coco was before the spay.

I think the only thing that freaked me out a bit was the recovery from the spay for female rabbits. It was a good three days before she felt better – although she was eating and pooping – she wasn’t at her best. Then again, it would be like having a human C-Section so it is to be expected.

Jackson was fine hours after his neuter – binkying like crazy the following morning. Easier on Boys.

I can only tell you about the behaviourial differences in boys, but I will agree with Balefulregards about the recovery. Molly took about 4 days before she wanted to leave her cage. She was eating properly, but really not feeling well. I didn’t get any pain medication for her, so please make sure you get this from the vet. Don’t leave without it

A female can still be moody and hormonal 1-2 months post-spay. My mini rex was spayed at about 7 months (she had been terrible for the entire last month) and as soon as she was feeling better, her behavioral changes were always instantaneous… No more devil bunny.

This might not always be the case, some people have the opposite experience where their girl seems to become more moody afterwards… some of this may still be due to hormones, or it may be because the bunny is still young and going thru the normal bunny adolescence.

Meadow still enjoys pulling carpet and chewing baseboards every once in awhile… she is well-past adolescence and a long time spayed, she’s about 2.5 years old. I think it’s just her and what she enjoys doing.
