Bedroom door

Hi guys, I have a new question now!

Next up, over the last two days, he has  developed an absolute fascination with our bedroom! He has full roam of the hallway and lounge of our flat. It is open plan to the kitchen, so he can see us all the time but is not allowed in the kitchen and that is fine. He is not allowed in either of the bedrooms, and only in the bathroom when we are in there.

The problem is all he wants to do at the minute is scratch at the bedroom door to get in, especially if he know’s we are in there and he is shut out. I can sort of understand that, but why when we are not in there? He doesnt scratch at the spare room, and he has one patch in the bathroom he likes to dig at which we cant seem to stop him doing either. If he hears the handle move for the bedroom or bathroom doors, he races like a bat out of hell to race in before the door is even slightly open!

Clapping, saying no, and a water spray have no effect whatsoever, I have tried thumping my foot and turning away, all to no avail so now I am stumped!

i think they will always try to get into forbidden territory! my bun is also always trying to sneak into our bedroom, sometimes she even waits at the door when we get home or getting ready for bed etc, because she knows we’re gonna go in there. or she will scratch at the door and she has also started digging the carpet at the door! not sure how to stop it it…i used to spray perfume where she scratched…it seemed to work for a few day at a time. i really want to let her in the bedroom, but its not bunny proofed, so its off limits. a lot of the time my husband and i have to take turns at distracting her so we can get in without her racing in before us!

Oh I hated when Archie did that, especially since we just put in the new doors and I painted them!  We put up a baby gate, which seems to really help!  Just make sure it isn’t the wooden ones (he tried to chew through the grids) and make sure there’s no rubber showing (he tried chewing that too).  We had to do that with our bedroom because it always got so cold in there with the door shut; plus if you went in there, he would hear the door opening and come running, sneaky bugger!

LOL! My rabbits do the opposite, they want out of the bedroom where they live… they’re so smart about it, too. My b/f had to admit that they’re quite cunning in their attempts… previously he thought they were kind of dumb… but since they trick him into letting them sneak out the door they have earned his respect!

Hah, Freya has started being sneaky like that too. She’s my little ninja bunny. I’ve started to fear for all my shoes lined up under the bed. Rabbits are incredibly smart. If she’s outsmarting me at 2 months I don’t wanna know what 2 years is gonna be like, haha.
