The BunnyFest event is back in 2010 and better than ever! Bring your healthy bunny and join us for a day of socializing, learning, and fun – all benefiting The Rabbit Haven. Join us at For Other Living Things (our sponsor) on Sunday 5-23-2010 from 11AM to 4 PM. At 1261 South Mary Ave. Sunnyvale, Ca

The keynote speaker this year is Dr. Carolynn Harvey – rabbit vet extraordinaire! Plus housing demos, gardening for rabbits, grooming instruction too! Then we have another special treat…Bunny Clicker training & agility for rabbits. Andrea Bratt Frick & Jean Silva, 2 nationally recognized rabbit trainers, coming up from Santa Barbara to demo & teach!! Learn, let your rabbit explore the course, and fall in love with a whole new way to play with your rabbit!

Come to meet local rabbit rescue groups and find out what’s going on in the rabbit world.

Stop in for a free nail trim and home health check from Rabbit Haven groomers.

Shop for unique rabbit goodies. All kinds of fun vendors will be here – the best stuff you’ll ever find in one place.

Get your picture taken with your bunny! What fun! Shop in the bunny café- I hear there will be carrot cupcakes.

Enter to win valuable raffle prizes – We have quite an assortment of Rabbit art, to tickets to special events like the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Healthy rabbits are invited to attend with their humans. Bunnies can play in our ‘park’, and then hop on over to the Lagomorph Lounge for some relaxing.

Bring your rabbit, enjoy the day, and support the Rabbit Haven as well. We look forward to seeing you! Free registration for humans, rabbits, and those angelic volunteers is available online. Questions? Contact Cathy at 408.739.6785 or baddogcathy@yahoo.com.

This is the flyer for our BunnyFest event this year.  Dr. Harvey is great to listen to, she has such a deep understanding of rabbit health, I learn something every time I see her.  If you come, you can even get to ridicule me as I make a presentation about rabbit housing and cube condo construction!  It should be a lot of fun, and it is also free.  Maybe I will see you there.

Wish I could come! I’d love to meet Dr. Harvey and the activities sound great.

I’ll pin this for you Osprey.

I’ll try to make it but no promises – that’ll be the first day I have off in a month.

I LOVE Dr. Harvey. Even after all her time and her work, she still gets teary eyed over the death of someone’s rabbit. That was amazing to me.

Oh, and she’s a decent vet too

We so wanted to come (and actually participate with a booth) but we are nutty busy and didn’t get that arranged! I hope next year. I have been to one a few years ago. It was great!

A mod can unsticky this now, as the event took place yesterday.  Thanks for the pin Sarita!

Wow, BunnyFest was just enormous this year.  In the past we have gotten on the order of 60-80 participants, this year our initial estimate is that we had over 200 people come through the event.  Dr. Harvey gave a fascinating talk about abcesses in rabbits, the causes of them and the treatments for them.  I have a handout from the presentation that I am going to scan in for The Haven’s website, and Dr. Harvey gave me permission to post it.  I will post a link here on BB when I get it finished with the scanning.  We also took a video of the whole thing, I am hoping we can cut it up into sections that are small enough for YouTube to let us post them.  There was also a really amazing presentation on clicker training of rabbits, by the people from ClickerBunny.com .  You can watch some of their training/agility videos on their YouTube site.  I am still not sure if I have the patience to try to train one of our rabbits this way, but after hearing the presentation I understand the process much better.  These ladies even clicker train guinea pigs!  They had a bunny from their local shelter there and they were training her during the show, really fun to watch them do it.

Sore and tired today from moving all of the product displays in and out of the store, but satisfied with the outcome of the event.  Were any of the BB crowd able to make it?

Glad the event was a success. I’d love to see the handout from Dr. Harvey’s presentation.

I’ll also unpin this as well.

I really wanted to go but I had a 8 hour shift and couldn’t pass it off to anyone. I’ll def plan ahead next year and take the day off

It was a really great event!  Packed!!  So many people and bunnies!  My friends were coveting the bunny strollers, even at the same time that they were embarrassed to admit that they wanted one…

I finally figured out how to get the text from Dr. Harvey’s notes up onto The Haven’s website. You can read it here:
