  So I’ve read all about buns over heating, but Boston makes a point of acting like a house cat and laying directly in the sunlight—she’ll nap there for hours! Should I be worried that she will overheat? There are obviously other places she can lay, but this is what she choses

  I think she just likes sun bathing or maybe she’s tanning. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. You need to worry about overheating when your indoor temperature is 80 or higher.

  No, she’ll move if she gets overheated. Sunlight is good for animals.

  Marvin loves basking in the sunlight as well and sometime he lays right up against the screen door. my wife and I feel bad if we have to go through the door and disturb him (he is pretty skittish and takes off down the hall if you even look at him wrong)

  This morning Kay & Winston were Basking in the fan!
  They snuggled up together right in front of the fan, purring away as it osculated (?) back and forth across them. And it is not even hot in here.

  allenj – I ditto what others are saying too. No need to worry when it’s Boston’s own choice, and he can easily leave the direct sunlight at any time.

  These pix are great. I think Boston looks supremely content. She has shade all around her so clearly she’s choosing the warm sunny spot.
  The last one looks like – “Hi, I’m cozy. I’m feeling better. Good to see you. Care to join me?”
