        So first real post here…!

Okay;  So Ive read and I think I understand the BASICS..  High fiber, low protein pellets;  + basic greens (Not for babies but will be kale, mustard and collard greens when old enough) and a variety of hay..

However I’ve noticed people talking about different diets for babies and I’m not quite sure when I want to go with as far as a pelleted diet.

So my question is;  whats up with different diets for the babies?  And as far as babies… I mean 8-week-old just bring home baby?  Im noticing your supposed to also use a different hay?

The pellets I’m between is Oxbow Bunny Basics 15/23 (used for babies?)

        Oxbow Bunny Basics T

        Zupreem Nature’s Promise Timothy Pellet

and the Oxbow bene terra Organic food.

So will someone explain the difference about the adult and babie foods?

Also if someone will touch on the differences in hay I’d appreciate it.

        :>

the Oxbow 15/23 is an alfalfa based pellet, while the Bunny Basics T is a timothy hay pellet. Alfalfa is generally just for babies and pregnant/nursing mama buns, as its higher is fat and protein I think. Timothy is lower in those, so adult bunnies won’t get overweight.

Alfalfa hay vs timothy hay is the same, timothy hay for adult buns

The Organic Oxbow I haven’t used, so I don’t know much about that at all, other than its more expensive

My rabbits didn’t like the Zupreem pellet very much for some reason. Could be just my rabbits’ opinion though.

If you are going thru a breeder, find out what type of pellets they are on and transition them slowly onto the new stuff. While alfalfa can be beneficial for babies under 6 months old, it is not a requirement. You can feed timothy pellets if that’s what the baby is already on and just supplement with some alfalfa hay. I would begin giving timothy hay immediately. It is good to get them used to it right off that bat since that will be the most important part of their diet.
