Just watch him every once in a while to see if he’s moving around in the cage, you’ll be able to tell when he’s ready to be let out. He’ll most likely sleep or not want to move for the rest of the night because of the pain. It might be hard for him to get into his litterbox so you might have to help him or just let him pee/poop in his cage.
We made our xpen smaller to confine our bun’s space and he mostly laid on the floor, with no desire to hop anywhere. He only did it when he needed to use his litterbox which I was surprised that he was able to do. We brought his food/water to him and encouraged him to eat. The next day, he was moving around more, but not racing or going too far. We also made sure he didn’t jump on the sofa b/c he wasn’t fully healed yet and that would slow down the healing time. So no jumping on things and slowly increase the space he gets until you see that he’s back to normal.
