bar spacing

so we decided that our baby will get his very own room!!! the room was originally a sun room when we moved in but quickly became our dogs room. when he passed away we simply used it as a storage room and now we decided we will give 90% of it to the new bun!!!( the other 10 % will be blocked due to the cords from lights or small furniture) of course he will also be with the whole family when we are home and supervising.  

we are also redesigning the old dog crate into two stories with a ramp and used to help with litter training, serve as home base, and to be used at night. ( although there is nothing to really chew in the room, I still feel more at ease if I know he will be safe and secure)  

one of my worries is will he get stuck between the bars? the spacing is 1.5 inch. he is on the smaller side compared to his siblings so I’m a bit worried. should I attach some mesh just to be on the safe side? also what kind of mesh should I get and where can I get it? also he is a holland lop/ lion head mix. 

this is my little guy with the breeder! he’s 3 weeks old and I love getting pics every week bc he changes so much!!

He’s a real cutie It’s tough to say on bar spacing but it could be a bit large when you first bring him home. I’d attach some extra wire (just simple aviary mesh attached with cable ties would do the trick), and then you can easily remove it later when bun has grown up and the bar spacing is no longer an issue.

I will add that to my list of things to look for!
so because there is a second story instead of a shelf, I wanted to makes a ramp. since he is a bit small. I might change the ramp to stairs as he gets older and can jump with no problems. I was wondering what size the ramp opening should be. so far the ramp itself will be 8 inches wide and I have yet to figure out length lol. I was thinking the ramp opening on the top floor can be 7- 8 inches wide and 9-10 inches long, would this be big enough even when he grows up?

here is a rough idea as to what I wanted to build. the top portion is 10 inches tall and the bottom is about 17.5. since the litter box and hay rack is on the bottom I want to make there is room for the bun to jump in and out comfortably so I made the bottom taller. i figure I can just adjust the height as the bunny grows.
I will also be using the stick on vinyl flooring for the top and placing some fleece on one half and leave the other half bare in case he got warm.

also can a 2 month old jump high? I was thinking stairs would be a much better idea. the step would be about 8-9 inches up off the ground if I stayed the measurements above. is that too high ?
what do you guys think? thanks in advance
