Tucker has HUGE bald spots on her chest..I don’t know if they are new today or if I just noticed them….but on each side of her chest in front of her front legs are these huge bald patches…or almost bald..I don’t know what is going on!  The skin is not broken, it’s not red..it’s just a light pink like it should be.  The spots do not seem to bother her..she lets me touch them….

Could Drue and her be fighting???? I haven’t seen them fight but I know a few days ago she was humping him like crazy…and now he’s grooming her..before he was never grooming her.  She is still grooming him now too.  They seem to be getting along fine but now I’m concerned that I should separate them because of these bald spots!  Does this sound as if they’ve been fighting??

The only fur I see in there right now is Drue’s fur..and he’s a shedder so that’s normal…I don’t know if these are old spots, if they’ve been there a while..if she’s pulling the fur out..or if they’re fighting..I just know I’m freaked out and I would hate to separate them since they seem to love each other…but I also don’t want them to be hurting each other!!

Is she shedding otherwise?  Sometimes when rabbits shed they can get bald spots and even look “moth-eaten”.

Well I found the hair….it looks like either a huge massacre happened in her bunny hideout or she’s building a nest…..why would she be building a nest though?????  do spayed bunnies still sometimes build nests?

hmm…not sure about the nest building.  But I found this thread by wendyszki and it shows a pic of Pepper shedding.

I think the fact the skin looks OK is a good sign.

Are you sure she has been spayed?

if she is spayed, she may be going through false pregnancy. Is drue neutered? sometimes the presence of an unneutered male can make a girl go into false prego.

Drue is neutere yes, but Thumper is not.  She is not in the same room as Thumper..but she is in the room next to him..I suppose maybe it’s possible she’s smelled him on me though if I go in there after playing with him….

I’m assuming she’s having a false pregnancy…I also read that they can have them in relation to a human woman’s cycle..which I just had..so that would make sense..

The thing is though that she is spayed…so I would think that the absense of the hormones would have prevented her from having these!!! She was spayed after she was over a year old though and after she had already had a false pregnancy once…so could it just be that since she had it once she now picks up on others’ hormones without having her own??

It is definitely not as common for spayed females to go through this.  Hmmmmmmm.   How long has she been spayed?

Agreed, it’s pretty rare….yet it does make sense there being a new unneutered male in the household. That and her new full time living with Drue. Are they going well? I think you’ve mentioned their content. Is she eating normally? Any other changed behaviours? I have read they can pull the dewlap fur when stressed or experiencing some discomfort elsewhere. (like dental issues).

She’s eating as normal, her and Drue seem to be doing ok still…  last week there was a day that she was going hump happy..but I think it was because he had still been refusing to groom her.  She has always been the one to groom him but would still present herself to him for grooming and he would just either hop away or bow down and push his head under hers so that she would then groom him.  She then humped him all day off and on one day and he just sat there and took it and now he will groom her, and she still grooms him too.  Since then she hasn’t been all humpy and they’ve been getting along really well and laying near each other more and more.  They share litter boxes well, food bowl well, the water bottle they’re a bit pushy over so I put their water bowl back in and now they’re better with that.  I’ve seen no actual fighting or anything..so I think she’s doing ok there.   It might have BEEN stress when she did it though…this also all happened about the same time that my daughter came home from TN where she had been for 5 weeks.  So, maybe she was stressed since they are in my daughter’s room and it had been empty besides them for the last 5 weeks…I mean we came in and visited them of course..and my sons would watch tv in there occasionally..but for the most part it was just the bunnies in there and little noise and not any disruption in the room.   No toys being taken out, no music on, and almost ALL talking in there was TO them.  So then Shaina comes home and has her craft stuff all over, she’s talking on the phone, watching her shows, listening to her music..is having the dog sleep in bed with her…I can see how this could be stressful on the buns now   I didn’t think anything of it since they have lived in her room for a while now and were used to her and her ways..but I didn’t think about how she was gone for so long and they could have gotten used to her being gone.
