Bailey’s story about her 2nd injury is in the Q&A forum

I got home from work to see that Bailey used her collar as a shovel in the litter box. There was poo all over the bottom of it. Poor thing. I told her it was okay if she didn’t want to use the litter box for a while and I’ll just work extra hard at keeping her cage clean with changing out blankets and everything. After getting it off, cleaned up, and back on her, i set her down in the play area with her favorite cardboard boxes. Just incase she wanted to stretch her legs a little.

At first, I got some sad faces:

(the area around her eyes feels like they put vaseline over them or put something in her eyes while she was in surgery. I didn’t know they did that, but I’m having trouble wiping it off. I dunno what it is)

then she really broke my heart with these:

then she started feeling a bit better about being out of the cage

started creeping closer to check out some cardboard

        “hmm…can I reach it?”

        “I think I’m stuck…”

then a couple of mini-binkies were a big surprise to me

        “mom, i want this off”

i can’t tell if this is a sweet beg look or a stink eye look.

But the best part for her was all of the luvins she got

Or was it the cool piece of cardboard that she found?

(I know the way to her heart is through cardboard, and nothing else. lol) And now I get to see her stitches for the first time since the craziness last night. I think last night I just imagined it so big and made it out bigger than what it was. I really thought it went up her belly or her side. But really it’s her inner thigh area, but still in the shape of a “Y” pretty close to her last injury that is now healed. I’m sure my freaking out last night really put an image in my brain that she was all sliced up head to toe. I’m glad to see now it’s smaller than what I thought. And it seems like the vet did a great job.

Have to take pictures of what costed me $300, right?

Reminds me of those Elizabethan collars. Your bun is royality!

Poor bun, that looks painful! I think the vaseline is to keep their eyes from drying out during surgery, not sure though.

Ooh Ouch! The area looks good though, considering. You can trim back the collar a bit if that helps with the vision. Enough so she has wider field of vision but not so she can get to stitches. Looks like she’s coping well though. Geez, that thing must be collecting some sounds, and rabbits with their big ol ears – poor things! Wonder if she can hear the ocean?!

Aw, so sad but cute! Bailey is such a beautiful girl.

I hope you’re doing better now too and decide what to do about Hailey

Awww…she looks cute even with her collar. They do put stuff on their eyes to keep them from drying out – I think it will eventually go away so I would not worry about trying to wipe it off.

I know Sarita… that’s what I was thinking… She’s beautiful, even with the collar… poor girl. At least she’s alert and exploring around a bit.

OH my goodness  hey maybe they can make those collars with the ruffles    Reminds me of that movie with Betty Davis in it boy she looked so ugly in that movie.  She had one of those collars on but that red hair didn’t go with her complexion phew.

Bun bun looks so feminine though.  I just love that about her.  She will be romping around without the collar b4 you know it.

I agree – she is a SUPER beautiful bunny! I’m so sorry she’s had such a tough bonding time, don’t feel bad though, I think its actually literally impossible to me a bunny bonding expert, no one ever knows what is going to happen. I think she’ll probably enjoy some time off from hanging out with other rabbits, and appreciate the solo attention from you

She is so breathtaking. She looks like my carrera who is 6yo but I have no good pics of her. Her wound looks good. At least she isnt splt all the way up the tummy like I had envisioned.

I think the vaseline is to keep the eyes from drying out.

i believe that anything costing more than $75 requires photographic documentation

Glad to see she is doing alright. Thanks for the pics! I enjoyed them although they brought back memories of when my little Mini-Rex had to wear one after his neuter. It is very sad but they get used to it pretty quick. Make sure to keep an eye on her ears, when Stormy was wearing it the backs of his ears started getting very red and raw from the cone rubbing. Luckily this happened shortly before I took it off.
