Yesterday evening I noticed Bailey was not eating and hadn’t pooped. She was still active, but I know first hand how quickly this can turn deadly. I gave her some watery critical care which she actually lapped up on her on own from the syringe. I could hear her tummy beginning to gurgle, and she ate some romaine lettuce on her own, and began running around normally. So I checked on her early this morning, and though she gobbled down a bit of greens, her pellets were untouched and still no poop or urine, so off to the vet we went. She’s there now getting fluids, blood tests and a head xray because I also noticed a new small bump on her jaws. (THANK GOODNESS FOR PET INSURANCE as this will be about $600 bucks…so far)
Anyway, poor little thing is there and I’m sure she’s scared and worried being there with all the strangers poking at her. They will have to sedate her to do the xrays, so at least that may make her feel more relaxed, but still…poor baby!
So, I’m sure she could use your postive thoughts, prayers, vibes, whatever for healing and to help keep her feeling safe and at peace while she’s there.
I should be getting a call in a few hours to come back to pick her up and look at the xrays etc.
EDITED TO FIX TYPOS – geesh, I am the typo queen! Sorry. I just type and go! I have to stop that. I type sentences that look like a two year old wrote them.

Hi binkybunny,
Our Bailey sends your Bailey healing vibes! And so do the rest of us.
ooo I really hope that Bailey will be feeling much better soon! It’s always better to get into the vet ASAP.
did you hear any new news from the x-rays and visit?
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS OF SUPPORT FOR BAILEY!!
So far, she has not pooped yet, but she’s active. The vet prescribed antibiotic (for a possible jaw abscess), and a gut motility drug as well as said to give her critical care every four hours. They said I need to bring her to Dr. Harvey tomorrow because she will be able to figure out what may be going on with her jaw. (I’ll explain that in a minute). I would have brought her to Harvey in the first place, but since this was an emergency I just brought her in asap. So they gave her fluids and sent her home with treatment. So she is seeing Dr. Harvey tomorrow.
So far this is is the rundown of possibilities:
1. The treatment she’s on for e.cuniculi (Ponazural) can make some bunnies anorexic with long term use.
2. She has a strange growth deep in her ear – could be causing discomfort
3. There is a bump on her jaw that could be an abscess, a tumor or bony mass from a past abscess that she had before I got her – but I am sure I would have noticed that before!
4. Her blood counts shows she is using her white blood cells to fight infection – that could be due to her disease, the abscess or tumor OR it could mean she’s fighting another cancer that I can’t see right off. (she is getting the rest of the blood results regarding her kidneys and liver tomorrow at Noon.
So we’ll see. I’ll keep you updated. I just want her to poop! Pray for poop! Poop vibes or whatever. POOP POOP POOP!
UPDATE: 3am – We have Poop! Smushy icky poop but since she’s been eating mostly critical care and wet greens, well then there ya have it. Whew! So at least if she keeps this up I can get her through until we can figure out what the core of problem is. She does try to eat hay, but can’t seem to really stick with it, and even as she eats her softer greens, she eats and then shakes her head, so I bet it’s either the jaw lump – like an infected tooth root or the motion of chewing bothers that newly discovered thing in her ear. So hopefully, whichever one it is, can be treated, but at least she’s more in the safety zone now.
Poor baby….(((((( healing vibes ))))) for Bailey and you from me, Shadow and the rest of my gang. Glad she is pooping but strange bumps, that is frightening. I am praying that it will be just a matter of antibiotics..
Thats good to hear, I am crossing anything I can for Bailey’s speedy recovery.
Yeah POOP! Good luck with Dr. Harvey. And we’ll keep rooting for Bailey!
yay for poop! poor bailey & binky bunny… so much worry. i’m glad one worry is off of your list & hope that you get the rest sorted out today.
(((((((((healing vibes)))))))))
thank goodness! ((((((((((((((feel better Bailey!)))))))))))))) ((((((((((((((((Deep Breath Binky))))))))))))))
Yea poops!
Sending healing vibes and soothing tummy rubs to Bailey.
We have a time zone difference, so not sure how early it is where you are. What did the Dr. say?
At least the meds are clearly taking effect. My vet once said that as long as it’s going in and coming out you’re out of the woods. She’s very lucky to have a mommy that knows the signs and takes her for help right away! Soothing vibes for you, too.
((((((((Get Well Lil Bailey x)))))))))
Awwww Poor Lil Thing Hope She’s Okay
i am glad she is doing better! keep us updated
SO glad to hear she is doing better! I’ll keep prayers going for her. Don’t like the sounds of the lumps, but the white cells are most likely telling the tale so you should be on your way to a cure soon! ^^
((((((((((prayers for Bailey and Binky)))))))))))))))))
Good to hear!! **(((Vibes for Bailey)))**
So Dr. Harvey took a look at her and at her jaw x-rays, and it’s hard to tell if the mass is really something to be fully concerned about at this time. Bailey does not seem to have a sensitivity to it, it’s not causing a misalignment, so we are going the medicine route instead of surgery…for now. We’ve also stopped the Ponazural just in case that is causing the problem, AND looked in her ear and found pus which may have been causing discomfort. Which could be due to infection OR the fact that Bailey can’t clean out out her ears due to her weak hind legs, could have caused an infection, so Dr. H gave me some ear solution to use so I can do a more thorough job of cleaning from now on. I clean once or twice a week, but since we’re not supposed to go down into the ear canal, I couldn only do so much..until now – This solution loosens up the stuff deep inside and brings it up.
AND ALSO…very important, I might have found out another reason her Gi stasis started – I was cleaning one of her new bath mats, and after it came out of the dryer, I noticed the fibers were coming out of the rug way too easily. The other ones never did this, but this one I recently bought because it was extra soft and fuzzy, well, the fibers shouldn’t come off sooo easily, and I bet this was happening while she was lying on it, and it may have caused digestive issues (as the fibers release on her, and then she grooms herself digestiing the fibers.
So, i really don’t know for sure one or a combination of caused this stasis, but I’m just covering all my bases. She’s still pooping, thank goodness, but they are not yet back to normal. So, hopefully soon.
Binky, glad to hear that Bailey is continuing to improve and you can account for all the problems and treat them non surgically.
(((( Bailey ))))
((((((bailey))))))
glad to hear you’ve got some answers!
Oh no. Wow BB, I’m glad Bailey is recovering. ((healing vibes))
Yay Bailey! The poor thing has so many health issues it is hard to keep track of them all
Rugs fibers can definitely be a problem. Curly Sue went into stasis right after chewing a hole in a plastic indoor/outdoor rug, and I think swallowing all of that junk may have caused her to get plugged up.
Oh your poor lil bubba …. hope she is doing fine now …. Big warm fuzzies to Bailey!
I have Bailey’s pic on my noticeboard which is right in front of me at work …. I’ll blow her an extra kiss for get well measures.
Dawn xx

Thank you everyone for your words of support! And thanks Dawn for having Bailey up on your “noticeboard” (whatever that is) So sweet! Well all of your positive vibes and thoughts must have worked because she is doing great and her poopfest behaviors are returning back to normal. She still won’t eat much of her pellets, but she’ll eat tons and tons of greens and hay. (I actually gave an update on another post, but I wanted to make sure to thank you all)
