My bunny Louie is recently adopted and I’ve heard lots of stories about rabbits losing their eyesight. Louie is only five months old so I’m not sure if it’s likely, but I read that signs of bad eyesight are not reacting to things in sight or flinching when approached closely and things like that. Since he is so young it could just be him being a little skittish, but I’m not sure.

Hard to tell from the description. If he’s still new he just might not be used to you and needs more time until he feels comfortable.

What stories are these? EC bunnies?

Cloudiness in the eyes can also gradually appear during old age.

Is Louie running into things when hes out exercising? Seeing that he’s a young rabbit, he should have quite a bit of energy and do zoomies/the bunny 500s and binkies.

All rabbits have a blind spot right in front of their nose, where they cant see anything at all due to the placement of their eyes. They have an exceptionally wide field of vision on the sides, but in order to get a good look of things, they need to look from the side, much like deer and horses do.

It’s not very common for rabbits to go blind. As LBJ says, it mostly happens to rabbits that were infected with e cuniculi in the womb, and to very old rabbits. Do his eyes look normal?

Yes, his eyes look normal, I think the reason he’s flinching and not reacting to some nearby thing is because he’s younger and a little skittish. Thanks for the help!
