Bad bunny!

 Ok, I know she isnt being “bad”, but she is driving me nuts lately!

Over the summer, Huckleberry was being so “good”. She would jump up on the couch and watch tv with bf and I. She cuddled with me at least 2 hours per day. She had stopped chewing/digging on things, for the most part. She was doing more binkies and acting happier in general.

Over the last week or so, she has been a little devil! She is getting into the trash, nonstop. I had to wedge something into the doorway so she could no longer yank open the door to the closet where the can is. She is EATING the couch. I have sprayed her with water, I have made loud noises, I have tried to redirect her attention to a paper bag with some treats inside, nothing is working. She keeps biting me and wont let me cuddle/pet her unless I am holding treats. 

She is still eating/drinking/pooping normally. I can only assume that she is upset with our changes in schedules since school started but she is getting let out as much as she was before, just not late at night like before.

Any ideas? This is crazy, but do bunnies cycle their moods? Like they can have highs and lows?

Could be. Maybe she’s missing you.

Is she shedding or starting to? Maybe she’s looking for fibre. Jersey and Timbu are shedding and both have been rascally. I keep finding Jersey on the kitchen table looking for food. She hasn’t really done that since she was 1 yr old.

Maybe try to offer her something she can’t help but investigate- a cardboard castle, big diggy box- and put a couple of treats that she can smell in there so that she “has” to go check it out. Let her go on her own- maybe if you act indifferent to her checking it out- she will think maybe it is not hers. Reverse psychology

erm with the couch eating we had this problem with Berry (she is a little diva) and we started treating her like a naughty child with a naughty step. Any time she would chew the couch we would either cage her in the small cage (1 bunny cage) for half an hour with nothing of interest for her in there or put her in the downstairs bathroom. Now when she does something naughty she instantly submits to you when you stand up in the hope you wont cage her. So when she would start to do something I would click my fingers loudly twice. I would do this twice if she didn’t stop…cage time. Believe it or not this worked so well that now I rarely have to cage her at all, just give the warning.

Also when you give out to her she shakes her head, runs straight for the DVD tower and pulls out the DVD’s and throws them around in defiance. I must try and get this on video.

is your bun bored? Berry was a lot more destructive when we had her as a single bunny. Now that we have two they are more settled and ‘good’ bunnies.

It could be that she misses being let out late at night. I know mine are much more active from 10pm on, but that’s when we go to bed so they’re not allowed out. If she was used to getting out her energy at that time, it could be that she now has to hold it and and waits to let it out the other times she gets to run free.

Thanks, everyone. I think its a combo of all that, she is bored and lonely and not sure what to do with herself and wants to be out at night.
I will have to try the diggy box idea… what do I put in that? I cant use newspaper or hay because she will use it as a litter box.
