Hi all,
I have two rescued bunnies. My female is 3 years old and I’ve had her for two years. We got a 7 month old male four months ago. They are best friends and he is very shy but sweet. He hasn’t warmed up to us like the female, and has always been a little more destructive, but it’s gotten a lot worse. We went on vacation for a week and had my uncle fed them while we were gone. Both bunnies have a cage that they eat and poop in but they are left loose in the room. While the male has always been a chewing terror, it has escalated to ripping up carpets (I’m talking chewing a hole all the way to the baseboard in the middle of the room), eating through the walls (which I had covered with protective paper tape), and eating objects that I didn’t think bunnies could chew through (like my daughter’s sippy cup). My bunnies have a large variety of toys, cuddle together, binky, and zoom through my apartment. I know they are happy and well fed so I don’t understand this escalated destructiveness. Both are fixed and show no aggression. I know bunnies can get destructive but this is getting expensive and stressful. I don’t want to have to put them in a cage and I don’t have space in my apartment for a playpin. They are bonded so it wouldn’t be fair to my female. Please help!
