This might be an odd one: I’ve seen a lot of cat owners post about those pet carriers that are backpacks with a clear bubble so their cats can see out. They are pretty cool and I was wondering if they were safe for buns? Maybe too confining? Not that anyone would keep them in their long (hopefully). Just curious what everyone thinks!

I know the carrier you are talking about. I don’t think a rabbit would like it very much. The fact that it is confining isn’t too much of an issue because rabbits being natural burrowers like small hiding places. However with the backpack design ones the fact that it is taller than longer would restrict the rabbit from lying down. Secondly, being a prey animal, new environments tend to scare rabbits so I wouldn’t expect that they’d even use the window and it may just serve to scare them more (but I could be wrong). Also, if it’s made of fabric, a determined bun could easily chew their way out

If you’re in the market for a carrier, you can gauge whether your rabbit would be one to chew fabric carriers. Wick loves his fabric carrier, and so do I because it’s so light and easy to maneuver with. With any carrier, you can try to make the environment less foreign by placing a towel that smells like your rabbit in the carrier. I rubbed a towel on Wick for a bit and put it in his carrier. He flops in his carrier and it’s a pretty permanent fixture in his free roam space.

You definitely want a carrier your Simpsons-themed bunnies can spread out and relax in!

Personally I’d never use them.. wrong shape and I just don’t like the look of them I think they’re too confining, I know I’d freak out if I was in there!

A standard carrier is better, they can flop, move a bit but not too much and can have hay covering the floor.
