So we took Baby (a new bunny who came with Clover the Angora) to the vet today. She’s been sneezing and she needs to be spayed, so we took her to get checked out and asked if she could do a spay if a) she was healthy enough or b) she had to be put under for something else-like tests or tooth filing.

Anyways she had a really big day-xrays, culture, blood work, dental exam, tear duct flush AND spay. She’s overweight (she was loved but didn’t get the best care-she had junky pellets-good intentions of course) soooo she actually had a bit of ‘lyposuction’ -she had a pound of fat removed to get to her uterus and ovaries!! So pretty intense stuff. She has no infection at all and no allergies, nothing wrong to treat. The verdict is that she had an infection at some point that she got over, and caused damage to the nasal cavity-which means she’ll have chronic sneezing. Her eyes are good, ducts are good and nothing showed for nasal discharge. So after all that-clean bill of health with sneezing.

As for the spay-it went great. Showing on her xrays, she’s showing sponylosis (sp?) so her vertebrae are starting to bridge, because of her weight. She does not look overweight-plump-but she’s very heavy and compact.

So the plan is after the spay recovery (you know the “Doesn’t matter what they eat, as long as they are eating and pooping” she’s going on a diet!!

Wow! Cosmetic surgery for bunnies, it could be a whole new industry! I wonder if Wally had something like that in his mysterious past. He’s constantly sneezing (multiple times a day) but no discharge or anything and he was on meds for some sort of nose infection thing when I got him…something to ponder…Anyway – glad Baby’s healthy! I hope she has a fast recovery!

Do you have pics for oggling? 🙂

OF course I have pictures She’s very very nervous about reaching hands, apparently while being boarded in a kennel, a well intentioned but uninformed employee thought they were playing with her, chasing her around her cage with their hands. So she’s frightened of hands but very very very sweet, loves being pet and handled. She flopped on my passenger seat on the way home last night and the way to the vets this morning. (They stay in the carriers after surgery as although I know they prefer out on the seat, after surgery I just don’t want to move them much)

Bunny Lipo………now I’ve heard it all. You vet doesn’t muck around does she, spay already out of the way. It’s only in that 2nd pic I can see the weight. When you posted it in another thread I actually thought she seemed underweight! Hope she recovers well.

Yes she has a very trim looking face. But on the xrays could I ever see the chub! Maybe Baby can join the BB WLSG!!

If I get myself spayed, think my Dr. would throw in a little lypo?…sigh.

Poor thing stuck with sneezes.  Wel glad that she is healthy and her big day is over.  She will probably feel lots better when she loses some weight too.   She is very pretty.

LOL I know hey? I’m like ‘since you know how to do lypo…” hehehe

She’s doing AWESOME!! I was worried-it was a huge stressful day, and big surgery but she’s doing fantastic. Once we get past the ‘eat no matter what’ stage, she’s on a diet for sure, but losing a pound will definitely help her out too! I’m so proud of her! She won’t wear her cone (Which is pretty normal ) so I know she’s feeling good

Georgie Girl also had a bit of ‘lypo’ done with her spay. Sometimes a ‘fat pad’ develops around them – especially by people who feed their buns potato chips . So they remove it with the other parts. She had a half pound removed and the silly vet tech thought it would be a good idea to show me when I came in to pick her up.

Oh gross! They felt compelled to show you the evidence of her lypo? Eewww.

I’ll 3rd that – “gross!”. Do you think that’s what Markus may have said or was there just a silence… followed by a *Thud* ?…

She’s gorgeous! Kinda reminds me of a white Olivia (who also could have used a bit of lypo when I got her )
