Hi All, I have 6 rabbits.  Daisy is about 1.5 years old female. Romeo, Oscar, Jessica and Naomi are about 5 months and little still.  Then there is the new arrival, Ernie. He is a baby giant rabbit and about 3 months old.  Um…so I am not sure if I need to seperate any of them? Because, he is reaching er…puberty? And is starting to try and mount little jessica, so I am worried he will hurt her. Am also worried if he impregnates any of the females since they are not giant breed? Advice gratefully received? It is possible to seperate them all if necessary. None are neutered or speyed yet.  Cheers, Helen x

From what I’ve read, males can reach maturity as early as three months, so to avoid pregnancies, I would separate Romeo, Oscar, and Ernie from Daisy, Jessica, and Naomi.

I would definitely separate them to avoid any pregnancy. Regardless of size, you still don’t want any of the males and females to be together until all are speutered.

I am surprised you haven’t had a pregnancy already if you have boys and girls together at 5 months old. All of the opposite sex bunnies need to be separated immediately and not allowed any interaction, even with you present. The risk of pregnancy is too great.

Do you have plans to spay and neuter all of them? Daisy especially! Since she is getting older, her risk of reproductive cancer is getting higher.
