I think this goes here.  It has to do wth behavior.  LOL   (Mods – please move if it’s in the wrong spot)

I have the cheap wood/plastic baby gate.  I think they run around $10.  Miss Lolli is chewing on the plastic part off and on.  So I feel it’s only a matter of time before she chews a hole big enough to fit thru.  We all know how determined they are once an idea gets in their heads.  lol

So I should probably upgrade.  I’m not really wanting to spend too much money though.  But does anyone have any recs?

What I did until I bought my babygate was I used grids, but I used the plastic connectors and I made legs with it so it was stable on both sides. Maybe set something heavy on the platform legs too if you do make it since she’s messing with it.

I’ve seen wood frame ones with metal bars sold at hardware stores in the door/screen section. Don’t know how much that would help though since she would probably chew the wood. Can you try putting something that tastes gross on it? What’s that sour apple chew deterrent that people buy?

I have a metal baby taller baby gate with the bars. Baxter is baffled by it. lol He gnaws at it every now and then and gets irritated by it’s presence all together. lol I looked forever for one and finally Walmart got them in and they are $40. That is very cheap compared to what they sell them for anywhere else. My only concern is that my bun tries to stick his head through the bars but his head is just a little too big. A smaller bun wouldn’t have a problem but there are a few that may get their head stuck If you are worried about that and want to save money than I would go to Lowes and have a piece of plywood cut to size and attach it with some hinges and a lock. That would work great. I would have done that if I didn’t need a taller one. I have 3 little moneys for kids at home that like to climb over. lol

Hmm…maybe I’ll just make a gate out of the grids then. I need to get some more anyways to keep her away from the couch. lol

I have a bookcase I can slip one side behind and then i have her basket of stuff that i can use on the other end so it keeps it secure. But I’ll need to get something to keep it sturdy in the middle. Do you think the plastic connectors will ok to use in the middle or should I find something else?

Can you attach grids to the existing baby gate?

I use an xpen folded up as a gate, mine is I think precision brand and is 30 inches high. It needs to be at least that tall, since one of my buns can clear it if she is really motivated, but somewhat manageable for us to step over it.

I use the plastic connectors and zip ties. I have 2 dogs to keep out so I make everything strong. I use a solid plastic gate now. Bee just smashes her face against it when she wants out, she doesn’t chew it….yet. Don’t give her any ideas Lolli!!!!!

I used to use an ex-pen, but I have lots areas to keep Lolli out of so I’m using both of them as her pen area and to block areas when she’s out of the pen. lol No matter how I block the tv, she manages to get behind it. Well, she did when Eddie was alive. I’m pretty sure he was the mastermind of their plans. LOL
