I am the proud owner of a five year old English Angora bunny that’s stopped eating drinking and pooping Last Friday Night I stayed up from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. comforting and massaging gently my rabbits tummy which was bloated, and Fuzzee was extremely lethargic and laying in strange positions on his belly with his butt propped in the air continuously readjusting his position in apparent discomfort. I thought I was out of the woods, I hoped it was maybe a slight case of GI stasis when my bunny started to eat and drink again at 4 o’clock in the morning however at 1 p.m. the following day all of the symptoms returned except this time his eyes were half-open in pain I assumed and his heart rate and breathing became fast and distressing, luckily with the help of your forums and bunny in needs forms and rabbits Ontario’s forums I found writers that described all of my bunnies symptoms perfectly as if they were watching him live, I quickly raced to Walmart and bought some Ovol baby gas relief drops, in fear this wasn’t the problem and I may cause more complications I mixed four drops with a couple teaspoons of lukewarm water and administered half of the mixture or two drops via syringe orally, I immediately noticed an improvement in his condition after only 15 minutes, after another hour I administered the other half of the mixture of water and 2 more drops and 15 minutes after the second dose my bunny was back on his feet sitting normally eating hay and drinking water, a few hours after that I administer the third dose of one drop smeared carefully between two paper thin slices of carrot which he enjoyed I’m very happy to say that fuzzy is now back on his feet binkying and hopping and seems extremely grateful as his affection level is cranked up to maximum and I’m sure he knows that those drops andwater mixture saved him/us a very expensive trip to the veterinarian and possibly saved his life, I can’t thank you enough and forums like yours for all the help and advice that you give to people. This is my third rabbit, I’ve lost to the natural causes (7&8 years old) that are buried in my backyard and my emotions were overwhelmed while dealing with his pain and condition until four in the morning the first night and then again Saturday afternoon. I greatly thank you for all you do, and keep up the good work. I guarantee you’ve made a huge difference for bunny owners. From myself and Fuzzee the bunny thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sincerely, Douglas and Fuzzee

Fantastic! Im glad Fuzzee came good.

The gas drops are by no means a cure-all, but they can certainly turn things around quickly. Like you, Ive seen a change in a rabbit by around 20 minutes. So I usually give them right away if I have a rabbit that looks as if they have discomfort from gas. I’ll let them be after it and if no change in a hour, Ill give another dose and do some tummy massages and organise a vet appt just in case.

Glad to hear your bun is well again.

Agree with Jersey. Simethicone can be a big help and should def be in every bunny’s emergency kit.

We’re happy to help here on BB
