My rabbit Jenny has GI stasis and is not doing so well. she hasn’t eaten or pooped in about a day and a half now. We took her to the vet and shes on medications and is eating critical care through a little syringe. However, she’s starting to reject the critical care as she’s very picky. Vet said we can mix baby food in it to encourage her. Anybody know any kinds of baby food rabbits like? We can’t give her too much sugar, so we’re a little hesitant to give her any without asking around first.

(vet has done x-rays and all looks fine, she should be fine if she’ll just eat. next step is blood test, but we’re hoping she gets better.)

Oof! Stasis is rough! I highly suggest trying plain canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix!!!), but you can also try mixing some (just a little bit of) pureed apple. I usually just take a garlic press and smash the apple with that. However, if you dont have that, you can try just blending/food processing it.

Also banana baby food, a little bit goes a long way (so not too much sugar!) and right now the most important thing is to get her to eat. Any fruit one should work, rabbits are notorious for their sweet tooth. Just make sure to look at the label and see if any sugar is added (dont get any sugar added ones), and what ingredients are in the baby food. Make sure its fruits and vegetables rabbits can eat, and not anything with meat.

Thank you so much!!! She ate last night thanks to some apple puree but unfortunately she took her last breaths this morning. We think the issue might’ve actually been something else, but I really appreciate this!!!
