Hey guys, I just went to the babies’ cage and there’s little diarrhea in it and it smells really bad. I assume it’s the babies because it’s really little, I’m going to take pictures of it. I called the vet and since they are only 3 weeks or so they told me to collect the poop and they’re going to test it. I hope they’re feeling okay They’ve been eating hay and water only and today they ate a little alfalfa hay for the first time. Maybe it upset their stomach?

Edit: If you scroll down there are graphic images of baby diarrhea poop.

Hmm yeah, maybe it was from the oil as katie said. Let us know what the vet says!

Can you identify which one it is? Maybe see if they have dirty hind end? Though one could have done it and another sat in it…. good idea to get them checked out and poop tested. If it’s a parasite or bacteria, you might have to treat them all anyway. Good point on the oil – that can act like a laxative. Also post weaning there can sometimes be this issue. Important they don’t lose too much fluid so watch this.

Poor babies I don’t have any advice other than your vet can help you the most. Best wishes from Bun and I though.

Oh-often when people say diarhea, they mean cecals. But that really looks like diarhea.

Definitely let us know what the vet says. I’d say keep an eye on the babies (Turn ’em upside down and look for butt smears-hopefully just the guilty party has a dirty bum, and the others didn’t tromp in it), make sure they are eating and normal. Ensure they are warm, and maybe give them a *Gentle* tummy rub each.

Thanks for the wishes and vibes guys

They seem really good, two of them escaped today to Sophie’s litter box, they seem to really like it. I had one Sophie wasn’t using so I put it in their cage and they love it lol. Now two of them are in there and the other two are sleeping. I’m gonna be checking them until my hubby comes back from work and we take the poop sample.

Did Sophie ever have a fecal test done?  Moms pass on many intestinal parasites to their young.

But I can see where the oil could cause loose stool also.  Maybe the vet will recommend a probiotic to help with the gut flora- something like Benebac.  It does not hurt to give it as long as the reason for the diah is addressed.  Hopefuly there is no GI inflammation or parasites- but the vet should be able to tell from the sample.

We will pray that she is alright poor girl! When my Hunny Bunny gets sticky poop from sunflower seeds or dandelion greens, I give her rolled oats dry and it helps harden her pellets. I don’t know if that would be a good idea for you to do but I know it sure helps Hunny

So I took the whole family to the vet today as requested by the doctor since one of the babies wasn’t eating or active while the others ate and played. He checked Sophie and all the babies weighed them and everything. He says there might be all girls but the dark brown that is a boy. The dark brown was the one not feeling well, and when he checked him, he saw that the part where he pees was swollen he says that one of his sisters might have tried to nurse from him thinking it was Sophie. He told me to get Epsom salt and dissolve it with warm water, then I gotta put that in a bottle cap and put the part of the baby on it kinda resting for 10 minutes, two times a day to see if it gets back to normal. He said that might be why he was feeling down. He said to do that and if he doesn’t get better, to bring him back so they can do something else. And he also said the babies look great and very healthy I’m so happy. The only thing was that, so now I’m going to Walmart to get the salt and more veggies since he said I can start introducing the babies to greens. Thank you guys for the support you’re awesome!

I talked my 2 year old brother into peeing on the electric fence. He cried. A LOT. Now I don’t feel as bad, because having your sister bite your wee willy winky is WAY worse. Good luck with the little guy! Glad to hear they’re doing ok otherwise.

ADALAIDE!!!!!!! Oohhhh! And I thought getting siblings to lick 9 volts batteries was bad!

Giuly, I don’t mean to worry you…I’m just a worry wart myself! Your vet is rabbit-savvy? Could there be other reasons for the genital swelling?

He’s really good, but he said that MIGHT be what caused but he doesn’t know yet. I’m gonna try the epsom salt thing tonight and the following days and see if he gets better. If he doesn’t I’m gonna take him back to be checked again. And I’m also a worry fart lol! My hubby says I drive him crazy with my worries
