I was recently given a baby bunny and his poop is very dark and not exactly a circle. He seems normal and healthy. He runs around, jumps and is eating and drinking normally I was just wondering if his poop is a sign of something not being right.

“The baby bunny I was given recently looks very young maybe 4 or 5 weeks even though the ones who had him before claimed he was 6 months. He fits in the palm of my hand and I was just looks for some advice on what to do”

Dark poop normally means that he’s been eating a lot more “wet” food, eg. veggies, grass. It is quite normal in summer. If the poop is deformed or small, it could be a bad sign. Can you describe the shape of the poop? 4 or 5 weeks is way too young to be away from their mother,as they should still be getting a milk source, but he could just be a small breed. You should really find a rabbit savvy vet if you haven’t already, and organise a check up as the vet can age and sex your rabbit etc.

What’s his current diet like and do you know what the previous owner fed him?

I agree with Boo that it’s good if you could bring him to a rabbit savvy vet to get a general health check and find out his age/sex so you can give him the appropriate care
