Ok I took my bunnie to the vet and she is a prego but the vet said to go online and look up how to take care of Babie rabbits. but I couldn’t find anything so any. Advice like what kind of heat all the basics. And it was accidental

(even though it was accidental).   We are focused on the individual rabbit and do not wish to encourage this subject for several reasons.  Again, please review FAQ .

•     Posts that imply intentional breeding are not allowed: Posts that mention pregnancy, new litters, kits, or babies may be considered as “intentional” breeding, if it is not clarified as accidental.  *NOTE: Repeat accidental litters from the same person will fall into this implied category as well.(regardless if it was truly accidental over and over) .  Again, a surprise litter that someone needs help with, and they continue to mention their kits’ progress is OKAY, but mentioning brand new kits in a way that implies new litters over and over is NOT OKAY.

•     Repeat Litter Exceptions: Certified Rescues can post about repeat litters.  Rescues many times are subject to getting rabbits in that are already pregnant.  They are allowed to use our forum to post about it in the RESCUE SECTION and use the forum as a resource for adoption.

Beka provided you with a wealth of information with those links, so I think you’ll be fine now.
I just want to add (forgive me if it’s stated above) that we don’t allow photographs of the babies. It’s just a temptation we bunny lovers find hard to resist.

I’m concerned that your vet told you to go online-I’m seeing that as a ‘red flag’ as in ‘I dont’ know’ so I’m wondering if your comfortable telling us what city you live in so perhaps someone can suggest a rabbit savy vet for you?

Also concerned if a vet would say to go online (there are a TON of sites that give misinformation). Are you sure your vet is rabbit savvy? Having a rabbit altered at a vet that isn’t sure on rabbit care (but most will do it even if they don’t know a thing about the buns) is dangerous. The wrong antibiotic can be toxic, also rabbit care is a lot different than a dog/cat. Make sure your vet knows what they are doing with buns (don’t just take their word on it, house rabbit society has a great questionaire for vets http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/vet.html) before they operate! A huge red flag is when a vet tells you to fast the rabbit before surgery, since rabbits cannot vomit, there is no reason to do this.

Hope everything goes OK with the girl – please be careful finding the babies homes, as advertisements for free or cheap bunnies bring about all sorts of questionable characters (my mini-rex girl was on craigslist for a rehome and her foster had some scary stories of what people wanted her for!)

How did your vet already confirm she is pregnant?

Good to hear your getting the male fixed asap. Be sure they’re well separated with space between cages/habitats as mating can occur thru bars. Just as a precaution in case it turns out she’s not pregnant. (Rabbit Does can actually carry 2 separate litters too which is dangerous –  especially for a young doe.) Also, she might get territorial and aggressive so it will prevent any nipping thru the bars.

Also keep them spearated for 1 month after his neuter as he can still have viable sperm during that time.

Yes, curious as how the vet confirmed this. Even a very rabbit experienced vet cannot confirm conception within a week.
