So late night at about 2 am my curious Dutch rabbit jack got into a box that I had put half an avocado skin in; not that this was in my small garbage can in my room. Hall the fumbling with the box woke me up and I realized that the skins was gone about 2 hours later I was rushing to an emergency animal hospital and paying crazy money to have jack looked at, within 4 hours of him eating the skin, he had a bowel movement and pooped everywear the vet suggested we give him activated charcoal and we did now it is 12 hours after the initial eating of he clavocadi, he is eating normally, pooping normally, breathing perfectly fine. Only thing is he seems a little run down and tired. Was wondering if anyone has gone through this before.. and if your bunny was okay. I read a lot of forums where the people didn’t update the end result which as a bunny Mom makes me overthink and worry, I mean they are our babies. When he was at the vet, his lungs and heart sounded amazing, his temperature was 102 so the normal temp. If anyone has any advice please I’ll take it. I forgot to mention he is a year old and weighs 4.07 lbs picture attached

He could feel a bit gassy from an upset stomach. Do you hear gurgling if you put your head to his body?

It could also be a result of being so stimulated to get in a car and go to an animal hospital with various different smells and sounds.

If his bowel movements become abnormal, re-visit the topic and medical assessment process. As of now, he may just feel odd going through that.

Make sure he consumes hay to pull any weird things through his guts, and drinking water (eating wet veggies) to help things go through as well.

Best wishes to both of you!

I would still be concerned. Avocado contains persin. A large enough dose can cause myocardial necrosis. However, symptoms typically do not appear until 24-48 hours after ingestion.

Of course, not all avocados are created equal and not all parts are created equal. Certain varieties contain more persin than others. Also, the leaves are the most toxic. Activated charcoal is also not a pleasant experience.

Lethargy is one of the symptoms, but he may feel unwell simply because of the activated charcoal. Other things to look for would be difficulty breathing, blue colored blotches on the skin or gums, inability to run around/exercise, etc.
