A little background info: my female is a year old and fixed. She’s also “bonded” (I use this term loosely because my fixed male is extremely indifferent to her and while he doesn’t seem to mind her and isn’t aggressive in any way, he also doesn’t seem to like her either). She was well behaved when I first got her and both of the buns are cage-free save for “home base” cages with their litter boxes and such.

She’s recently started destroying EVERYTHING. By everything, I mean she’s cost me a few thousand dollars (on top of the normal bunny costs) replacing things that were bunny proofed and she’s managed to get into anyway. This has all happened in the span of a couple months. My male is well behaved but seems influenced by her to get into things. The buns have more toys and activities than they need to stay busy, they always have hay, and have space, so why has the female suddenly started tearing up everything? I can’t afford this behaviour anymore if there’s no solution and I don’t want her confined to a cage all day either.

It’s possible that that could be ‘her thing’ – destroying/shredding/chewing all things and everything. It’s also quite likely she will grow out of it. Have you got a spare room you could turn into ‘her room’? Another option is getting a pen as opposed to a cage. That’s what I do with my Bun. I bought one of those ‘puppy pens’ and keep it in a room. That way he can bound around and play and move and have lots of space, but I don’t have to monitor him all the time. I bring him out to play in the house when I can monitor him (he is also a chewer of all things!)
