Whenever I am strolling through the vegetable section at the grocery store, I always notice neat little packages of asparagus and peas in the pod.   I have often wondered if these would be a good choice for a rabbit?  Any thoughts/experience with said veggies?

I do give my buns asparagus when it’s in season. I will snap 1 stalk up into about 1″ pieces and toss it in with their greens. Sometimes they eat it right up, but more often it is the last thing to go, so I only buy it maybe once a season (no humans will eat it in my house). I also occasionally give the crew pea pods (the kind found in Asian food). But I do slice off the very top edge to remove the string and then use my knife to scrape out the little pea-thingies!!! They do seem to like them as an occasional extra!!!!!

I love asparagas.  My buns hate it.  Unfortunately.  Hey can I go to your house and eat all your asparagas?

Pea pods I am scared I will get the wrong kind some kinds they can’t have.  I dont’ know the diff so I dont’ get them.

Is it the snow peas they can have or regular snap beans?  I will try it if I know which is ok for them.

Snow peas are safe, snap peas are not. Hammer will eat both the pea pods and asparagus, but he prefers the pea pods.

Buns can eat snow peas?!?! Oh, I can’t wait to go buy some to share with her. I love them, and asparagas too. Now I can justify it by saying I’m not just out shopping for veggies for her, right?

My bunnies love pea pods and my local grocery store sells them bulk- so I just buy a handful every now and then.  I feels kinda funny to buy  78 cents worth of a bulk item though.

Asparagus- the bunnies are not a big fan of at all.  Schroeder who is a salad eating machine sometimes will not eat all of the few pieces he gets- and Cotton will rarely ever even try it.   So in general I would have 2 say my bunnies give Asparagus 2 thumbs down.  And pea pods rate 2 thumbs up!

Haha, I take it that buying these items may be worth a go. If the bunnies don’t eat it, my mice might.
