Just thought I’d share a couple of pics of their new setup as it’s what we’ve always been planning for when they’re bonded, and we’ve finally realised the dream!

I built a set of “log steps” that they love climbing around on. They’re Silver Birch from a local firewood merchant and cost me just £10. I’ve joined them together with pine dowels so they can’t move. The pen itself is just a 2.5 ft high X-pen, opened out to create the area, and the cotton rugs are a bargain, just £1.59 each from Ikea! Miranda is still a little precious over boxes and enclosed spaces, so we’ve not given them any but they’ve been fine without them for 2 weeks and we’ll probably see if they can have boxes in a couple of weeks once they’ve fully settled into their new place.

That looks great! I love the log steps, can you post some more pics of them and how they’re put together? And can they be taken apart for rearranging or cleaning?

Your buns don’t mess with that wall corner that sticks out? My buns LOVE corners that jut out… it’s like they’re own personal chew toy.

A very neat use of space that might otherwise be wasted!!!

Don’t they jump out from off the tree stumps?
I am green with envy for this pretty habitat.

Thanks! They’re in our living room so we wanted to keep it looking decent. It won’t stay that pretty though once Miranda gets to work on it later; she’s a right little civil-engineer!

They can’t jump out as the pen is right upagainst the wall on that side. It’s not very clear from the photo, but you’re right; if we had it anywhere else they’d be jumping out in a shot.

There’s nothing amazingly clever about how I’ve put them together. I visited the wood man at his yard and we picked out some logs of different diameters which he chopped up and squared the ends off with a chainsaw. All i did to join them together was drill a carefully lined-up hole in each log and join them with a 4″ piece of 1/2″ dowel rod. No glue/screws or anything, so they can be taken apart easily. I’ve ronged the dowel in the pic so you can see it.

It’s really neat. I see the wall now that keeps them from jumping out. Great job.

Wow that’s nice. Me thinks I may have to go to Ikea for some cheap rugs! Monkey has taken to marking again >.<
