        Hi all.

Does anyone know if sesame leaves (not the seeds) are safe for rabbits to eat? I’ve searched the ‘net and can only find reference to seeds, but that doesn’t mean the leaves are safe. Has anyone feed them to his/her rabbit? If someone does find an online reference, please provide the link.

        Thanks.

Hi Gisela! I have never heard of feeding a rabbit sesame plant leaves.  However that doesn’t mean they are or aren’t safe, and the reason you are not fiding any information is because I don’t think that they have ever been given to a rabbit.  I tend to like to error on the side of caution and stick to the known safe veggies for a rabbit. See Veggie/Fruit List from the House Rabbit Society.  I couldn’t find much botanical information with regards to the leaves of the plant, most focus was on the seeds.  Sorry I could not be of much more help.  I’ll keep looking around.

Thanks. I appreciate you taking a look for me.

Have no fear, I don’t feed him anything unless I know it’s safe. He’s just such a picky eater that I’m always on the look out for something new for him to try. I’m familiar with the House Rabbit list, and I have an expanded one I’ve created as I find foods from other lists that he likes. He likes a number of oriental veggies, which is how I found the sesame leaves – in a Korean market.
