        Hi,

My friend recently gave me ALOT of airwick plugged in air fresheners from her move and I was wondering if it would be okay for me to use those air fresheners in the same room as my rabbit for a few hours a day with my windows open?

My rabbit is completely litter trained and the litter (yesterday’s new) is supposed to be de-odorizing but it still smells quite a bit. I usually have my windows opened ALL the time but the smell still lingers. I dont think my rabbit is sensitive to it becuase he didnt have watery eyes or sniffling when i plugged it in for an hour last night but I know he doesnt like it because he stayed away from the machine. So my question is, would it be particularly harmful for his respiratory system to be in the same room as the plugged in air freshener for a few hours a day?

        Thanks guys!

Well, I doubt this stuff is good for anyone to be honest and I use them but not in a plug close to my rabbit’s litter box. I only plug them into the bathrooms.

And I’m not even sure a few hours a day will mask any odors.

Is your rabbit spayed or neutered.

I use Yesterday’s News and I change it every 2nd day and don’t find there is any smell.

I don’t use air fresheners because bunnies are so sensitive to smells (and most of them are made by companies that test on bunnies ).

I don’t use plugin air fresheners because they’re pretty strong (I get migraines) and because they mainly mast odors instead of absorbing them. Yesterday’s News is usually pretty good at absorbing smells. If you’re having odor problems with it, maybe try changing litters or changing the litter more often. Also, if you aren’t already doing so, clean the litterbox with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water. Sometimes its the residue in the litterbox that’s causing the smell.

I seem to recall smelly things are dangerous for birds so I always wondered if that carried over to rabbits and have tryied to be careful

I would give them a miss in the bunny area. They are also considered a fire risk so always unplug them if you are not in the room.

I would think the smell would be overpowering for a bunny if it was in the same room.
