The only significant difference between albinos, lop or upright-ear, and other rabbits is that their pink eyes, due to the lack of pigmentation, and also their skin tend to be very sensitive to bright light so you’ll want to take care on that point. They also tend to do something called “eye scanning” which is a kind of bobbing and weaving motion of their head to get a better look at something by focusing both eyes on the object of view. Otherwise, they’re just like any other bun, and I should know, since I have an albino (REW) Polish!

P.S. REW bunnies get a terribly unfair rap as being “scary”, when in fact, many folks – including your correspondent  – will testify that they’re among the sweetest, most affectionate of rabbits.

Their behavior and diet shouldn’t be any different than any other rabbit.

Do you plan on having this rabbit spayed or neutered? I noticed you don’t know the sex of the rabbit, but if you have a female rabbit it is very important to get her spayed even if you are not going to get another rabbit.

Female rabbits have a very high risk- about 80%- of reproductive (uterine, ovarian) cancers. They should be spayed to prevent this, as this procedure removes the reproductive organs entirely.

Even if your lop is a buck (male) and you don’t plan to get another rabbit, you might want to think about having him neutered anyway. Otherwise, his raging hormones could cause all sorts of behavioral problems as he goes through bunny adolescence.

As for behavior and diet, my Fernando (the REW on the left of my avatar picture) eats exactly the same diet as his mother Panda (the black-and-white-spotted doe on the right). He behaves just as any normal bunny, with his particular personality being curious, active and friendly.

You just need to watch out for those albino mini-lops, they tend to have super adorable powers that can get them anything they want……yes, obviously, I have one.
