APRIL CHAT THREAD – bring out the bunny peeps and cadbury eggs!

Hi everyone  It is finally April..

What has been going on with everyone?

I just rabbit proofed my room so little Chacha can come hang out. She has been having a ball! She loves my spare blankets under my bed, so I took one out for her to play with. She also has left some poopies in my bedroom – which I believe are Chacha markings  Kafrn told me “Don’t start poop wars!”  I bought in a spare litter box that I had in her condo so she will stop pooping all over!

I can’t wait to get my new fur comb from the BB store! I believe that Chacha is an all season shedder. She doesn’t seem to stop. I am keeping the fur in a plastic bag to make something out of it later .. like a pony tail, a needle felted Chacha bun!

I got the orientation dates from the grocer and they want me to put in a one week notice at my not so good job. I did, and the boss wasn’t too happy, in fact, he lectured me about ‘burning my bridges, being unprofessional, ldklajdkfd.’ I told him ‘The job wants me next week, I can’t do anything about it.’ He tried saying he has me scheduled on April 11th, when in FACT, he doesn’t  BOOHOO!  I’m reporting them after I get my last check. Another coworker is telling the new people WHAT is happening.. I am laughing, but that isn’t me doing it.. she has another job, so eh (the juice bar is just extra money for her). I got a high five from one of the trainers at the gym that used to work at the juice bar. I guess word spread quickly to gym employees (the juice bar and the gym are seperate, the gym doesn’t own the bar) and they told me that the boss is an a-hole.

Chacha is helping me put together a box for her Mister John (what she likes to call my boyfriend John that adores her) for Easter. We are sending him 2 package of pink peep bunnies (GIRL color.. hahaha I’m so cheesy!), some jelly beans..  I’m not sure what else!!!!!

 

I’m going to the grocer to sign hiring paper work!!!!

I came down with a nasty cold and have been doing nothing but laying on the couch. The bunnies are pretty ticked at me for not giving them enough attention and treats. Poor buns :'( Every time I try to play with them I feel so tired. I don’t have a fever today so maybe I am finally getting better.

Easter came early to my house and I rescued a little pair of boys who are getting on great with my girls. I am now at a quartet which is my limit. It’s been warming up here and is now gorgeous out. I hope to go hiking on Easter, not sure what else I’ll be doing as I no longer eat sugar. Guess I’ll have to get creative with the baskets.

I like this time of year because there are lots of stuffed bunnies at the store- and it is a good time to buy a faux friend if your bunny needs one!  I have a stuffed one I bought about 3 years ago- I slept with it for a week before giving it to Cotton so it would smell like me…awwwwww.  But none of my 3 bunnies really pay much attention to it.  We named it “hump bunny” because that is what I thought its role might be at some time or another- but nope- nobunny loves humpbunny. 

And Cadbury eggs are a childhood memory for me- I remember my Mom used to buy them for me.  So I still eat them- even though all the sugar can make your teeth ache!

If only these 2 things were enough to outweigh the “negatives” of Easter- the buying of live bunnies as pets for their kids.

My two week spring break is almost over On a happy note, two weeks after I go back to school, I got to Mexico for 8 days!! Wooohoooo! I wish I had a car so I wouldn’t be sooo lazy to go to hot yoga -.- My goal was mexico but now it’s summer. On an eveeen better note, after i get back from mexico, i start speed dating at the local rabbit shelter! Yay!! I hope the princess will choose a lop boyfriend

I realized last year that I’d never actually had a cadbury egg before, so I tried one and holy cow, those things are pure sugar! Too sweet for me…

I’ve been working as a volunteer at the local HRS chapter. It’s definitely a lot of fun. There’s one bunny there who makes me wish that we owned our house so that I could adopt her. She’s a pretty little black-spotted white rabbit. I can’t wait to see her again next Tuesday.

And LoveChaCha, I bet it took them at least a decade or two to write that procrastination book.

I had an EMG done on my left leg today that showed nothing is going on. Of course. The only thing my surgeon can recommend at this point is seeing if acupuncture will help. I have to call my insurance see if that is covered. So I don’t know what this means for my long term disability through Metlife. They have to have proof of a neuropathy and I so don’t have that. My surgeon said he can tell them them that there’s no cause for it but it’s still there. They may require me to go see another doctor. Sigh.

I am starting to pack for moving out to my dad’s. He has decided to let me have lolli in my old room in the basement. It’s a finished basement with the main tv, so while he’s at work, I’ll be down there with her. Plus I’ll be spending extra time with her as she’ll be in her pen all the time. Big changes for both of us.

I am not doing very well depression wise right now. It’s just the same old stuff. Plus I’m moving in with my dad. But it’ll get better eventually. It’s got to.

During this time of the year, I head to about 20+ different pet stores and ask them to put into their windows the “Make Mine Chocolate” posters. Although they’re in the business of making money and selling pets, about 1 in 5 actually put them up and keep them up. I figure it can’t hurt and some pet store owners do actually care where the pets go and what happens to them.

April started with a blast for me…a blast of snow… very irritating because most of the snow was finally melted and we got another big chunk yesterday. Maybe the Easter Bunny will be white this year.

I also love Easter (despite the negatives but I do what I can to spread the word about bunnies as pets). I love going to the stores and seeing all the Easter related stuff. Bunnies and sheeps and chicks. Not to mention the chocolate! I’ve got to get out my Easter candy making stuff to start my chocolate making. I love candy making (and eating). I also plan on making homemade Easter cards this year.

I’ve been enjoying volunteering at the SPCA. So far I’ve only been able to make it out once a week. Often it’s hard to get a room free to take the bunnies up so I just cuddle and give them attention and treats in their cages. One of them seems very depressed and it really breaks my heart. She’s a cute little Holland Lop and hardly even looks at you when you go over to her cage I love walking dogs too so when the rooms are too busy to bring cats and rabbits up to play I take the dogs for a walk. There are trails and a dog park very near so it’s pretty fun. And I’ve lost 12lbs in the last little while, just from this as well as taking care of my Mom’s Westie Lily who loves to go for long walks.

Lizzybunny, that’s great! The world needs more vets that love bunnies

I went up to the bunny shelter today because Peppy and Milo have already mowed through all their hay and the rescue organization stocks some supplies. While I was there I was talking to a woman working there about what the rescue has been up to lately. Apparently one of the movie theaters around here had contacted the rescue to see if they wanted to set up a table outside to educate/raise awareness about rabbits to coincide with the movie Hop. I thought it was great that the theater took initiative to do this! The woman said also that they also contacted some other theaters themselves with the idea. Hopefully this will be able to deter the “Mommy I want a bunny!” syndrome a bit. They also said they had a 30-second tv ad running every hour to raise awareness about bunnies, something they always do around the Easter season. I was really impressed and glad that so much effort is being spent in my city to help bunnies

In my news, we finally got rid of the dust/junk collector some people refer to as a foosball table!!! Now my art studio will no longer be a pathetic 2 ft wide hallway wedged between the foosball table and the wall and two couches but a whole area behind the couch! I can’t wait!!!! I am going to start building a bigger table today!

Peppy, that is awesome! I hope that the shelter does that and that other theaters do it as well.
In that spirit, I found a great little video about pet bunnies. I don’t think it really even comes close to covering everything but they really express how long a rabbit lives and that they have some health issues. I think it would be a great video to play for people before they adopt.

I just spent two weeks…count them…T-W-O W-E-E-K-S, scanning and copying all my stupid tax documents for my and my mom’s living trusts for my tax accountant and got them sent off the day before yesterday….

R-E-V-I-S-E-D 1099’s!!!! WHAT??!! *grabs the duct tape too late…head explodes*

This means I have to rescan these (all 50 pages) and send them off in another express mail envelope to my CPA in California so she can get us an extension to file…..

Plus Griff is on another antibiotic (clavamox) that has to be given twice a day for two weeks (there’s that magic number again) to clear up what my good vet thinks is some kind of inner or middle ear infection causing his lack of balance and perhaps straining the nerve that caused his Horner’s syndrome. He’s been messed up for almost a month and a half since that stupid dental.
Griff HATES medicine. I have furrows on my arms and legs and a new big bruise on my knee and perhaps re-cracked a past broken toe to prove it. ~_~
At least this one isn’t as nasty tasting but….banana…?
They give my bunnies tuna flavored meds and my cat gets BANANA?

I see my oncologist on the 11th. Has anyone here had experience with fibromyalgia? After being off my adjuvant meds for awhile now, I feel no better and daily tasks are becoming harder to accomplish. I can remember well enough when we originally went over the risks of chemotherapy that this was one of the things he said might show up years later. It would sure explain a lot of strange things happening with my physical/mental/emotional self in the last few years.

And Mimzy goes in for his dental on Monday the 4th. Please pray for him that he comes out of this better than my cat did. He’s seeing the good vet, but it’s the techs that worry me. I wish I could just sit there with him all day. He has been missing leaps up to his shelf in his night hab again lately so I just removed it completely…I’m so afraid he’s going to break his back if he fails a jump up to it.

Hop….ehn….want to see it…don’t want to see it and support the Hollywood idiots who make these movies and then the public goes crazy impulse buying bunnies. My daughter warned me that there’s a Build-A-Bear plushie of the main character, E.B. *tries not to look*

Hey Brittany…where are you in Pokemon? I think I’m just edging out of Nacrene in my Black (waited to shift the other primaries in my son’s pack to mine and have been restarting it over and over again) and I think I’m still in Castelia in my White. Usually I tear through these games but this year I’m being poky. Good thing I’m not even interested in joining the World competition this year. My teams would be the definition of SAD.

Mimz, my mom has fibromyalgia. She is currently on morphine to treat the pain. She has tried many medications for it, lyrica being one of them, which had awful side effects. She has been fighting it for around 6 or 7 years now. Many doctors tell her that diet and exercise are the best things for her. While she completely agrees, she also is in too much pain to get up and cook a well balanced meal or exercise. Going to the grocery store for her would be like the rest of us running a 10k marathon. It has caused her to fall into a deep depression. She can’t remember very many things, especially conversations we may have a day or even an hour before. She describes her thought process as being “as unclear as trying to see something in front of you in a thick fog”.
Anyway, if you ever need to talk about it, Im here. I haven’t been through it but as her eldest daughter, I was responsible for fighting for disability, organizing doc appointments, tracking medications and taking care of all the other millions of details involved. I really hope that this hasn’t happened to you. It is so hard.

I’ve been crazy busy at work-all this accreditation stuff-and then accommodation standards audits-which has somehow become my thing for my region and sort of Alberta, and has resulted in a ton of work and travel! I’m proud to have niched out some stuff I’m known for but oh man crazy. I’m also prepping a presentation for a confernece at the end of april and attending as tech support-and am on holidays soon-so very busy wrapping that up and prepping!

I’m freaking because we are on holidays next week for two weeks-and getting things ready for that-Cuba-first time in three years, first time out of country while my pet sitter sits. She has been walking Mikey weekly and did a trial weekend so he is used to her but I’m still worried of course. She’s looked after the buns and is reliable and awesome-and they totally know her now so that I’m not too concerned about. She’ll be staying in the house every night so I’ve got the house to top-bottom clean, dog tag for Mikey with her number, and so much prep! Top it off-all the stuff you need to get ready to go out of country-from passports to sunscreen to registering abroad…well I’m going bonkers with so much work!! AHHHH I will feel so good when we get there and can relax. And I’m so glad my parents are getting back from Texas tomorrow night so I will feel better knowing they are here if the sitter needs help with anything. Super stressing right now-and with only five days left until we leave

That happens to me all the time on craigslist FluffyBunny. The good thing about it being removed is that every time you re-post it, it’s back up at the top. =) Even the shelter bunnies that I post for the rescue are always being removed. Just keep posting it and hopefully enough people see it.

Perhaps this is dishonest but I see nothing wrong with saying you are selling a rabbit or a cage or something. When people contact you, just dont reply. When I was buying a car, I had that happen all the time, I would email someone and never get a reply.
This way you can appear to be a seller but you are concerned and only want people responsible buying.

Casey, thanks for your offer on the FMS discussion. I’d love to PM you about it. I *did* run through a store today and I do feel like my limbs are weighted with lead. (having not actually run any kind of marathon in my life, I’ll have to figure that’s as close as I’ll ever get to that feeling) It mostly just feels like constant pain and aches that will come and go, plus the memory loss and chemical sensitivities, but mostly they hang on for weeks at a time. I’ve had some sharp pains coming across my left side of my ribs though that have almost had me running to call 911, thinking I was having a coronary. >.<

Well we had a weird thing happen the other night. I’d just come in from walking Jenna and there was this loud BOOM coming from somewhere in the front of the house. So I take my trusty stick …lol… and I go outside to see who must be on my porch and tearing through my garbage bags stacked there (the neighbors’ dog tends to rummage) but the sound had seemed bigger than just a fat dog with a sweet tooth for rancid on my porch. Couldn’t see anything at all amiss, so I shrugged it off.
‘Kept peeking through my window all night though, wondering if there was a moose using my walls for a scratching post.
The next day I take Jenna for her morning walk and I’m thinking as I come to the front door, what the heck? I must be low on blood sugar, I feel like the floor is tipping. Still I hadn’t seen the real reason.
It’s not till I go out that evening that I realize what the big BOOM was… mostly because I really felt like the floor was askew…. That’s because it was.

The rear side of the north end of our porch has FALLEN from it’s normal position and is sitting on the ground. It just sheared off on that side!

Don’t know if it’s delayed earthquake damage or if the termites have gotten to us, but the whole side over there is broken. Our front doors (arctic entry and house) are ‘floating’ above their thresholds.
I knew this house was old to being with (gotta be about 30 years by now) but man…I am starting to jump at any little noise or creak or groan the old shack gives off now, waiting for my roof to come down on my head. 0_o;;;

I haven’t been diagnosed with it but I get scared sometimes, I start to hurt at work or feel totally drained after walking the 4 blocks to school and wonder if I am coming down with it too. I wake up with numb fingers or toes and my muscles feel like there were stuffed with sand bags. I feel like my clothes are too tight and cutting off my circulation, even when that is not the case at all. Its really scary! I hope, I really really hope, that neither of us have anything to worry about but if we do, at least we can gripe to each other 😉

Peppy, keep fighting!!! Man, people are jerks? I cant believe they just flag your post, like you dont have the right to say what you want to say but they do. I say flag every live animal post we find on there!!!!
Im in an uproar today! I am in the mood to put people in their place! Yesterday, I was at the electric company and this woman was in front of me with the most well-behaved St Bernard puppy I have ever seen!!! He sat, quiet and still and waited. He turned his head to look at the other people and the woman YANKED his collar, SMACKED him on the snout, and grunted “Mind your own business! You dont need to look at them! Mind your own business!” My jaw hit the floor!!! It took everything I had not to jump that woman, wrap the collar around her neck and give her a little of the same treatment! I was enraged! I overheard the woman as she spoke to the teller. The dog laid down next to her as she stood at the window but looked back again. She REPEATED her actions. I was so angry I felt like throwing up. The woman justified her behavior to the teller by saying she had “a service dog in training who wont mind his own $%@^ business!” Then, she said her name, loud enough for the whole room to hear 😀 I was searching my phone for the number to animal protective services before I was even out the door. I told what happened, the exact time and date, her name, and that she was opening a new account with the electric company so they should have her address. They said they would investigate and talk to the woman.
I feel a little bad for “ratting her out” but I just couldn’t live with myself if someone of authority didn’t know about her. I felt that it was a double-hit, not only was she abusing her animal, she was training a future service animal to not trust people. What if that dog turns on their owner later? A disabled person? Plus, the dog wasn’t tagged as a service animal. I am pretty sure, at least here, that an animal must be tagged as such.
Anyway, I needed to share that with fellow animal huggers.

That woman was full of…excrement. Sounds like someone who just likes beating animals. And I envy you your courage. I was in Petco with my daughter once waiting in line and had to stand watching while some woman’s son (old enough to know better by half) took their beautiful Siamese cat in his carrier (he must’ve been freshly groomed) and shook him like a can of marbles for amusement. I wanted to rip that woman a new bunghole, let me tell you. But my own parents strict upbringing told me to just keep my mouth shut. I should’ve blown that out the window and said something. No one else even gave this behavior a second glance and there were plenty of people around us.
Ugh…some people just sicken me. I hate to be part of the same species.

I didn’t realize that FMS could be inherited? 0_o I’m sorry to hear you are having such difficulty also. Like cancer, I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. ~_~ I was so looking forward to getting off my adjuvant therapy and feeling better and well…not yet. >_<

After weeks of warmer weather, and beginning to feel spring is finally on the way. today we get a big dumping of snow and rain. We’re going to be up to 2 inches by morning for sure. 0_o

I’m working at my new job this week and next. I’m having some web based training on Friday, and cashier classes next week. I’ve forgotten what its like to work 8 hours o_O. My dad got me some orthopedic shoe insoles, as my feet are flat .

Thank you all! It really wasn’t courage or anything. Since my boyfriend lost his job and has been home 24/7 I have had less “me time” and I am starting to get very cranky. Therefore, I am practically looking for a fight. It was just luck of timing. Usually, I would be like you Mimz, too beat down to even make a remark to someone else about her behavior loud enough that the idiot could hear it. Oh well, maybe this is a new me coming out of my shell!!!

Weather here is so unpredictable. We had 60* the other day and then 30* that night, then up to 80* yesterday or today… that’s what the news said at least. I hate it because I have to bring a coat with me to class in the morning but by the time I am heading home, its so hot that a swim suit would feel like too much clothing! To be getting snow though, ugh! Maybe I shouldn’t complain. haha

Working 8 hours is rough. My shifts have to be 8 hours long or they wont let me work overnights which pays $1 more an hour. Good shoes are mandatory!

Man, Livingonfaith, those weather temps sound like what I’ve been having too. Warm and sunny one day, cold and dreary the next. The only predictable thing here is the unbearable pollen. Lots of coughing and sneezing going on here

In bun related news, it’s so hard to believe that I’ve had Oreo for almost 3 weeks. Seems like ages and she’s already got me wrapped around her little paw She’s settling in nicely and has really enjoyed testing how much mischief she can get into and still get pets lol.

Also, I’m pretty excited right now because the bf is coming to meet the new bun in two weeks! He’s patiently listened to me talk about adopting a bunny for over a year and has recently had his calls rejected cause we’re having playtime I’m so excited for them to meet…fingers crossed neither one gets too jealous haha. He also has a job interview here in my city and it would be wonderful to have him back in my area (he moved away after we graduated from college for another job offer). Fingers crossed on that one too!

My feet are in terrible shape from having the kids and mostly walking barefoot. I used to wear nothing but heels, but had to stop when I got pregnant with my son and then just never went back to anything higher than 1/2 inch heel.
So now when I walk my bones in my feet feel like they’re separating from the muscles, it’s VERY uncomfortable and also is bad for the back. So you young ‘uns take care of your feets! ^_^

Mimz, I do not favor heels. It hurts my feet, plus I was given wide, flat feet, so no can do The nice heels seem to be only for tiny feet I read what happens to the feet when ladies wear high heels and it isn’t worth my trouble! My friend was in Japan for a year for school, and she said Japanese ladies wear heels EVERY SINGLE DAY. And she was friends with a lady and my friend said she had bad feet from wearing heels all the time

Ah, I was wondering how that had turned out with the neighbor. Two bunnies? Wow, what kind are they?
You all who are lucky enough to live near someone else, either from the forums, or who just keep rabbits as housepets…you are so fortunate. The only people around me who keep bunnies anymore are people who are raising them for food.

I don’t know if I told you guys this, but the lady who lived down the road from me who had all the lovely bunnies that she was showing wound up falling on hard times and had to give them all away. I didn’t hear about it from my hubby until after the deed was done of course, or I would have asked if I could take at least one of them from her. It was a little rex female who had been attacked by her own mother and her skin ripped from her stomach down. This lady saved her life by sewing the fur back on and nursing her back to health.
She would’ve made a nice mate for my little Fiver.

A coworker was talking to me today. When he found out I had a bun, he asked if I wanted more. Of course my initial thought was Brittany’s “I WANT ALL THE BUMBAS!” but I told him I couldn’t. He told me that he had taken them as a trade for some milking goats and they are “a total hassle”. He then told me that “all the people I know will eat them if I give the rabbits to them. They are too pretty to eat, I want to breed them.” I didnt know my stomach could drop so low. So, if anyone is in the area and wants to rescue some free young lionheads… (I hope that isn’t against the rules… if it is, Ill edit and sorry)

On an up note! Huckleberry was conned into cuddling with me today!!! It took a dried banana slice and then being trapped but I got my lovin’s today!!!!! 😀

Mimz, I know the feeling on the feet problems. I had plantar fasciitis a few months ago and it was AWFUL. It still bugs me sometimes if I wear really high heels or too flat flats.

LoveChaCha, my bun is doing great! She’s finally started to (occaisionally) use the litter box so I’m hoping I can expand her running space soon. I want to give her the run of the upstairs of our house. But that also requires me to stop being lazy and finish bun proofing the upstairs I guess that will be what I’m doing this weekend

Good for you, Brittany! It feels so good to do stuff like that! My sister did a cancer marathon last year and she managed to raise a lot of money. All along the running path there were candles lit with the names of loved ones who died of cancer that you could sponsor. It was very sad. I bought a candle for my Dad, My fiance’s Mom and Dad; all lost to cancer. The lighting ceremony everyone was crying. Someday they will find a cure!!!

Oh gosh LPT I didn’t know you lost your dad to cancer.. it runs on both sides of my family. My grandpa passed away of undiagnosed late state colon cancer (the doctors thought he was having incompetency), my uncle passed on the operating table from the complications of liver cancer, my great aunt had ovarian cancer in her 40’s, and my mom of ovarian cancer at 52.

I’m doing my darn best to not get anything.. there is only so much I can do.

I’m sleepy and feeling overwhelmed at my new job. The registers are kind of old lol. There was an annoying older woman in my cashier training group. I don’t catch onto things quite fast and she was pushing me and she said “You don’t know how to do it?” I said to her (and in front of the trainer) “NO, I don’t know!”

Good for you. I hate when people put you under pressure. It makes if more difficult to pick things up. I’ve always avoided jobs where I’d have to handle money or use a register. I’m sure I could learn but once I get nervous about making mistake with money with a customer standing there, I’m sure I’d become worse. Like simple arithmetic elludes me if I have to do it in front of someone. My mind blanks – what’s 2+2 again? lol

I’m fine with $, and counting it. It is just, I like to learn at my own pace. I have a learning disability and when it comes to people thinking they know it all, I won’t have it lol. It takes me a while to grasp onto things than other people and that is fine. I need extra help, no problem.

I’m okay with math, but I do think I need to buy a small calculator for my work apron LOL.

My grandmother on my dad’s side had breast cancer when she was my age. And my grandparents, both of them, on my mom’s side passed 4 days apart from different cancers, can’t remember which kind off hand. Sucks

LPT, .. I’m sorry about your dad : ( : ( I have a feeling that my mom is watching over me at times.. I just wish my mom could have lived longer, but she is no longer in pain. Seeing her in pain was just too much to bare.

I’m doing okay with my job. I don’t think I’ll be a cashier there for long, and I’m thinking about transferring to Home department in 6 months or when there are spots available. I’m not too fond of the attitudes (and vibes I’m getting off of people) of the assistant manager and some of the employees. The people in the Home department are chill.. I’m guessing because there aren’t many cashiers in Home and all they do is stock and help customers. There are some new Home dept people in my cashier class and there have been some of the senior Home dept people that passed us and would say hi.. the cashiers in my dept didn’t say much.. SO it kind of says something :/.

I guess I’m gonna have to get used to my schedule being switched due to people out for medical reasons, sickness, etc. I’m supposed to get 20 hours a week, but I’m working 34 this week D: LOL.

My condolences for everyone here who has lost a loved one. My aunt died of cancer 4 years ago and I’ve never been through anything harder.
On a happy note I’m leaving for Mexico in 3 days!! I love planes and airports and I rarely ever get to travel so I’m sooo excited!!!
I just hope my mom is prepared for taking care of Thumper! I had to put a list on the fridge of all the things she can eat; all the time, minimally, and never. Also have to teach her how to change the litterbox as I’m gone for 8 days -.-
Yay when I come home I start speed dating to find thumper a boyfriend (or girlfriend!) I’m, just as excited about that as I am about Mexico lol!
Hope everyone is doing well, haven’t been on as frequently as I’m busy with school. Everyones buns are looking perfect as usual

Random question for the Canadian (East-cost) members – what is there to do around the Prince Edward Island/Newfoundland area? My extended family is going up there this summer, and I figured I’d ask around to see if there’s something fun/interesting to do that we haven’t scoped out yet.

LoveChaCha, I’ve never worked as a cashier, but I did work as a bagger for awhile so I know what you mean. Most of the cashiers were really unfriendly to the baggers and each other, I think the repetition just makes some people a bit dead eyed and grumpy. But the people who worked departments (whether home goods, the deli counter, etc) that didn’t have quite so many customers were much more pleasant and respectful. I understand somewhat, a lot of the customers I remember dealing with were also pretty horrible, trying to hit on me all the time (nothing sexier than a girl in a button up khaki color t-shirt!), having crazy demands about bagging (and I say this as someone who is more than a little obsessive about how my groceries are bagged, but some people are seriously nuts), complaining about things that cashiers and baggers aren’t in charge of or have no control over, and so on. There’s also a lot more turn over with cashiers, a lot of them probably really don’t want to be there and dont care to make friends. People who have moved on to a specific department maybe don’t intend to spend the rest of their lives there, but they plan on being there a year or more, so getting to know people makes more sense. I would defintiely start angling for a transfer as soon as it would be allowed and tactful just in case dead eyed grumpiness is contagious!

Emmie, I think a majority of us here are American (it was started by BinkyBunny in California), but there are a good number of Canadians as well. There’s also a handful of British and Australians, as well as a few members scattered around in the rest of Europe and Asia. Bunny lovers everywhere!

There’s a beautiful bunny named Gertrude at the Colorado HRS. She’s been there for a long time because she’s very cage-defensive. Because of her nipping and lunging, none of the other volunteers will go near her, which means that I’m one of the few people who’ll pick her up and pet her. She has a bad reputation at the shelter, even though she’s never seriously injured anyone, and all of the younger volunteers joke about how “Gertrude is going to rip my neck open”.

The truth is that she’s a little sweetie. When I pick her up, she digs her little head into my chest and immediately starts toothpurring. She loves any attention that I give her, including pulling the loose fur from her coat. Apparently, nobody else has had much luck trying to handle her; every week, the longer-time volunteers are amazed that I can just pick her up and carry her.

It’s too bad that adopting from CO-HRS requires jumping through so many hoops (tried once before), or I’d have already adopted her. I love that little bunny.

I’m a big reader too…when I was little, my parents’ punishment for me when I was misbehaving was to take away my books for a while and threaten to cancel my next trip to the library .   I’m obviously a huge geek/nerd – you’ve got to be one to voluntarily spend so many years of your life in school!

AHHH!!! Doctor who!! David Tennant!!! Huge fan here too…he’s brilliant  .  I actually discovered the show for the first time during winter break…I commenced to watch the entire first 4 seasons of it in the span of about one week. Yup, that week was nothing but eat, sleep, bunny, and Doctor Who…best week ever. Unfortunately, classes started up again after that, and I haven’t gotten a chance to really “get into” the series again with the 11th Doctor. There’s still summer break! I thought Eccleston did a great job and had maybe more of the gravity I’d expect of a 900 year old time lord, but the eccentricity that Tennant brought to the role was just amazing.  Not sure about Matt Smith yet, I’ll see…

Well I have to say (before I sign off as fangirl…lol) that Matt is going to take some getting used to. But I thought the same of David at first, and he really brought the role home for me. I did like Chris’ portrayal though, having only been able to recall the movies from when I was little (with Christopher Plummer I think as the Doctor? or was it Peter O’Toole?) David got me so giddy about the series I began writing my own fanfiction for it. But I don’t feel that way with Matt’s Doctor. The change of Steven Moffatt writing is a great upheaval from Russell Davies’ scripts. This is Dr. Who though…constantly evolving.

Supposedly a Time Lord can only regenerate 13 times, according to Gallifrey legend, so since the rumor is that Matt will be leaving after this season, I wonder how long they can keep it going? Especially since Moffatt and Gatiss are still writing for Sherlock.

ANYWAY…lol…yeah I could go for a week full of nothing but Dr. Who. Oh, and the bunnies, etc, of course. ^_^ I am still looking for that blue police box to drop out of the sky while I walk my dog at night.

Brittany I know me too!! I’ve been to every midnight premier and its always worth it

 

I live in Seattle and around the time the Part 1 of DH came out, the Harry Potter Exhibition was going on at the Seattle Center. I have 2 friends that LOVE Hp as much as I do, so, we went there the day before. My friend has a membership at the science center, so we got in for $10 each, instead of $30 each . Anyways, the exhibition was small but, AMAZING  I got goosebumps, my friend cried! As soon as you get into the exhibit door, the group that you go in with pick a few people out and have the sorting hat put on  . All of the costumes.. and Harry and Ron’s bed that are in the movie were there  And the Quidditch costumes, and the Buckbeak statue is there  My friend snuck a picture, despite it saying.. no pictures . There is even a wall of all of the ‘rules’ that Filch puts up … There is a room devoted to all of the food that was served in the movies. I did not notice this but, there was a huge dessert bowl of chocolate.. chocolate rabbits

 

After going to the exhibition, I went to my friend’s house and we ate, and watched the Half blood prince. We left for the theatre around 1030 pm and stood in line. The 12:00 am exact show was crazy. We got into the 1206 one . My friend cried during the entire movie .. it was emotional.

Peppy- Prince Edward Island is beautiful!!! You should definitely go if you get the chance. They have gorgeous beaches. It’s not the most exciting place but I love going there. You should hop on the world’s longest bridge that links PEI and NB and come visit the infamous Stormy! Here is the official site:

Kate Monster – Yaaayyy more people who watch Doctor Who! I get so excited when I find people that do, since it’s relatively unknown in the States (but seems like it’s getting more popular lately). It’s always so awkward trying to explain the plot to people…”so there’s this 900 year old time lord, and he travels around time in a blue 50’s police box and takes companions around and fights aliens….okay it’s silly sounding, but I swear it’s a really good show!”  I streamed all my episodes off Netflix, since my parents have a subscription and I figured out their password, lol.

LPT – Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out!  I have an aunt and cousins that moved to PEI a few years ago, so this summer a whole entourage of my extended family is visiting there from overseas, then taking a big family road (err, ferry) trip up to Newfoundland.  Sounds like a gorgeous place from what I’ve heard, and I’m pretty darn sure the summer weather will be better than here in Texas!  I would love to meet Mr. Stormy (and Bindi and Olivia) but if I showed up you juuust might find yourself with 3 fewer bunnies when I leave .  In any case though, family trips allow little time for personal detours, so your buns are safe…for now!

I’m sniffling.. I wonder if it is because I have allergies or because I am becoming sick. My dad is sick right now. I really hope not because I have not worked out in 4 days and would really like to. I tend to get sick easily

I was at work when they released it. There was a group in costume buying their DVDS. I was so bummed out, I actually felt sick. 

As soon as finals are over, I am picking up an extra shift just so I can buy it!!!!! 

Im an insane fan too. I love HP. At one point I made a little web site that became my life for about a year. Then stupid Yahoo killed their GeoCities program and I lost access to it. Its still floating around out there but I cant edit anything

Ugh…I have been dealing with allergies for weeks already and the snow isn’t gone yet. You’d think living in the arctic would dial down on nasal irritants. Zyrtec is now beginning to not work as well on me.

Too much information to put into one movie, I guess I’m quite excited for the second one. John’s dad was upset that he saw it at midnight while at school. I really want to see the midnight opening of the 2nd movie, but I’m not sure if I will be going with John if his dad is going to be angry faced :-/ His dad doesn’t like crowds, but I am NOT going to wait a week to see it!!!!!!!! *thump thump thump thump* I’ll even go BY MYSELF if I have to.

I just saw Scream 4 o_O;; It still made me jumpy a bit.
My allergies are acting up too, Mimz. I can’t take Zyrtec. It made me pass right back out.

OMG I missed a conversation about Dr Who?! Dang! I love Dr. Who… Im not too crazy about this new guy though, the one after David, he just seems a little too wimpy to be the doctor. I even loved the one before David, he was great too! I miss Rose Tyler’s character, I thought she was great! I watch it on NetFlix a lot, when I just cant marathon Simpsons anymore.

Chacha, no, geocities shut down. I was working on that site about 3-4 years ago. And puking on someone isn’t a bad idea! Ill have to try that one! My Grandma dropped hints that the Easter Bunny might be bringing it though!!!! 😀 (My family acts like Easter is Christmas 2, they load up the Easter baskets with weird things like toys, dvds, shirts, socks… whatver… as long as I get my chocolate and cadbury eggs)

I had a sculpture accepted into an art show this week. I am going to a reception today for it, I am really excited and proud of myself!!!

I saw a commercial for some allergy medication and they were knocking zyrtec (or maybe allegra, im not sure) because you cant take it and drink juice. I thought that was odd. None of that ever works for me, I use a series of nasal inhalers like Afrin and Vicks Menthol Inhaler combined with Sudeafed and sometimes Delsum for a cough. My purse is like a mobile pharmacy.

Chacha, so Scream 4 is a horror movie? I was so confused when I saw the previews, I honestly could not tell if it was going to be scary or if Scream was just spoofing on itself.

I’m exited. Tomorrow I’ll be volunteering at the bunny shelter again. I think I’m mostly just exited to see Gertrude. If I can get the confidence together to do it, I’m thinking that I might see if there’s any way I could adopt without having written permission to have three rabbits in the house. Probably won’t work out…but hey, I can try.

These children in the cooking class that Jamie is being allowed to teach want to change their diet, but the school decides to terminate his contact at the school. The school won’t let him into the school’s cafteria or kitchen and you WONDER why. Their food is full of fillers.

I’m eating vegeterian buffalo wing nuggets, brown rice, and green tea. I don’t mind things that are vegeterian.. I find it more satisfying.. the nuggets are slighty spicy!! It has 3g of fiber per 5 nuggets and I need something to hold me over until dinner at work!

I’ve been getting a lot of customers that are getting Easter candy and I take a moment to educate them..  Also, I see plenty of animal lovers and we talk! I feel it is my duty to educate people about rabbits. how much work bunnies require, etc. People are often surprised bunnies need to be spayed and neutered

Another bit of awesome news, I got a scholarship to take a class in Taos, New Mexico, this summer!!! I am so excited. It will be the first trip outside the state without my parents lol.
Huckleberry was lounging around with her foot stretched out yesterday. I picked her up and put her on her back. Then I started slowly rubbing her back foot and she stretched out her toes and melted into my lap. She usually HATES being tranced and REALLY HATES anyone messing with her feet, but I guess a foot rub was just too good to fight.

My whole childhood has been about harry potter. I read the books even when I was little when my parents were divorcing and it kind of took me away from all that stress. Still does, so I read when I’m stressed out mostly since I’m too busy with school and everything to read them as much as i would like to . Some of the tats I’m planning on getting have to do with HP actually; the deathly hallows sign, quotes etc. On to tattooooss, my stepdad is a famous tattoo artist in Vancouver so I’ve grown up with them too I have whole back pieces and side pieces planned out the I can’t wait to get!

My dad’s girlfriend and I are trying to get him to get his done. He hasn’t yet  He has to have surgery in May, so after he is healed. It is important. My dad thought it was every year, but it depends on family history, etc. My grandpa had late stage colon cancer (misdiagnosed as incompentence ) and my mom had cancer.. I do NOT want to lose my dad  Chacha needs a grandpa around for a long time

 

I had 2 short work days. I am adjusting alright

I forgot my fiber gummies this morning, so I’m SO HUNGRY

I will. After he recovers and is able to do work 100%, I am going to get on his case. I told him he won’t feel a thing because patients are put under o_O;; My dad’s gf explained how women not only have to do mammograms, but pap smears, exams, AND colon checking O_O;;;……. She is right indeed!

She wont’ let me share hay with her. She said “MY HAY.”

I just got home from work at 7:30 and ate: 3 chicken strips, salad, and 2 corns.. well, corn has fiber so, go figure time for my dessert of pineapple and strawberries.

I have seen that ad once or twice. I did a double-take and then I LOL’d.
I really hate that I’m getting old enough to need the baseline colonoscopy. My grandmother died of colon cancer. With that and breast cancer in my family, I just can’t let that slide. My oncologist has been pointing it out for the last few visits. Even my son has had one, years ago when he was having some problems. I felt so bad for him having to drink that keg of powdered Gatorade-like stuff that cleans you out before the procedure. ugh! >.<
The prep is supposed to be worse than the surgery, but…ugh…just, ugh! I think I’d rather just swallow one of those pill-cams.

I am jealous, Brittany can eat corn. I haven’t been able to eat that for years. Upsets me tum.

Had a nice visit with the shelter bunnies today. Was glad to see there are no after-Easter newcomers, although some may have been turned in that they don’t have room for as there are more bunnies than usual. Unfortunately that usually means they euthanize any incoming animals. That breaks my heart.

Rex is so adorable. He loves to binky and zoom. I wish I could bring him home. He gets so excited when he sees me and chews on the bar door for me to let him out. Something about those Rex rabbits…I just can’t say no.

I just really wish the shelter workers would make it more pleasant to be there. If I say hi and smile it would be nice to get the same back instead of an inaudible grumble.

I found half of a freshly-dead cottontail in the yard today.  I know that it’s natural, and that it happens to all bunnies eventually, but it was one of the three rabbits that have been here since we moved. He/she had bonded to another one of the three, and I’d grown attached after watching them chase each other and do little binkies all evening long. I saw his/her partner in the yard today, and I think he/she knew what happened – he/she seemed very depressed.

I just hope that if he/she was the female, he/she didn’t have any babies yet. I just saw a tiny baby bunny in the yard today, so I’m quite concerned.

Aw! That’s always really sad FB.
I saw three wild bunnies yesterday, they were adorable! It’s officially spring here now. I even saw a tiny wild bunny face bath that made my day. And I got to go see Spamalot last night! YAY! It’s my second time, but it still makes me really happy.

That’s so sad I know it’s nature but it is still incredibly sad…and I’m sure animals in the wild mourn just as house pets do.

I went to the stable a few weeks ago and one of the dogs was chewing on what was left of a rabbit that a coyote killed. I was very upset. Nature is so cruel.

I’m working on a term paper and Kate and Spence really like my topic or they dislike it. They have chinned, nibbled, and jumped on all of the books I’m reading for it, lol.
