Well, my dad and I were approved for a mortgage of $84 000 !!

        BUT WAIT. DON’T PARTY YET.

I called the bank to arrange coming down to sign documents, and mentioned that the place I was offering was a mini-home. The woman got quiet and said ‘Well, you were approved for a house, not a mini-home’ and so then said the process was completely different and that now we have to go back and get reapproved for a mortgage… >.< CRAP! The original mortgage was a 40 year, 7.19% - making my monthly payments $527 (ouch). But she said for minis, they only could go 25 year mortgages...

So…I hastily emailed my dad (who is in LA) and am hoping he called them to sort it out…

Cuz I was allllll excited, and then … plummeted…

And … grr! What a frustrating process!!

CROSS AND HOPE FOR ME GUYS!!!!!! WE MUST DO IT!!!!!

Yes, I’m curious as to what a mini-home is too – sounds like PeeWee’s Playhouse :~)

i tried to respond but my post got eaten… :o(

i know you want this house, but if you cannot afford a 25 year mortgage, are there regular houses in that 80,000 price range that you could afford? i hate when things don’t go the way you want. i wish she would have told you that sooner.

oh, is a mini home like a pre-fabricated house? not a trailer but not with a whole foundation and everything?

I’m surprised too that they have a 40 year mortgage! Wow.

Heh, being from San Francisco, CA, my first thought was “You can buy a house for $80k?!”

oh darn that sucks!  going from 40 to 25 yrs will probably hurt the pocketbook.  i wonder what they’ll come back with?  i have never heard the term ‘mini house’ either.  is that an eastern expression?  i’m imagining its a woodframed, vinyl clad home without a basment (frost footings only) but i could be wrong.
