Yeah hubby went at 4 am  called me at 5 am I walked across the street to there at 6 am  we shopped together. Of course all the really discounted laptops that he wanted were gone.

But he got a better one anyways. HE finally splurged and got himself a nice one. It was still on sale but a higher priced one. I am kind of glad they didn’t have the 299.00 one they ran out that way he got a much better one.

I need a camera wire to attach to computer.  I was trying to make video with my web cam and it wouldn’t do it. Said needed to press video record on my camera so I guess I will go get one Monday and try to record something.  That should be fun. I had all this stuff to do muvees and videos on my computer so I figured might as well give it a shot.

Yeah we got some neat stuff.  The printer/photo maker in 1.  You put your card from your camera in it and download cd , computer and print too.  I don’t have to go to the store for that anymore Or wait til $ day  HURRAH

Printer paper had a real good sale on it.  750 sheeds for 5.99   Cool.   Had a big sale on the 25 and 50 packs of CW RW cd’s and stuff.

So did anyone else have a chance to go.  This is my first time doing it.

No, I just can’t take the havoc!  Very cool that you could walk across the street to shop…in So Cal, of course, there’s no walking anywhere.  Would have had to drive, and park…ACK!  I hate dealing with shopping centers around the holidays!

I was out shopping the day before Thanksgiving, and went to both Fry’s Electronics and Best Buy—they had virtually bare-shelves, and I couldn’t find what I wanted.  I wonder if they were hoarding things in the back for Black Friday?  But the crazy thing is, there were people CAMPING OUT OUTSIDE to be the first ones in on Friday.  And this was on Wednesday.  They spent their Thanksgivings in folding chairs in front of a tent on the sidewalk with the lovely view of a parking lot to a closed store…

That’s just a little too nuts for me…

I live near the 2nd biggest city in Michigan- so we have a lot of chain stores around here- dept stores, electonics, etc- and our stack of ads from the Thursday paper was 6 inches thick!  Some stores opened as early as 4am, most others opened at 6am.  Crazy!  I saw some stuff I wanted- so I checked it out online and Younkers (dept store) was available to purchase from online with minimum order of $25 for free shipping, and Kohls (Dept Store) online it said that the sale started at 1am EST even though stores opened at 4am (EST here)- so I waited til 1 am and bought the stuff I wanted online- minimumorder $100 for free shipping.  And Circuit City had the deals online also- minimum order $25 for free shipping.  So I ordered from 3 stores all with free shipping.

I was going to go to a chain grocery store Meijer for a few things at 5am- but after staying up until after 2am so I could buy from Kohl’s online- I was too tired when the alarm went off.    I was mainly wanting some fleece blankets anyway- some cheap throw blankets.  I use them for the rabbits since I can’t even buy a yard of fleece for $3.  And I thought about going to Staples and Wal-Mart.  But I am so, so NOT a people/crowd person that it was a little too easy to just forget about it when I was tired.

I went to Wal-greens today and they had cheap fleece blankets 2 for $4- so I picked up some of those- so it all worked out anyway.  Someone else that went shopping said she went to JoAnn Fabrics and you had to take a # to get your fabric cut and she was #66 until she found out that they were only on #6- so she did not want the fabric that bad!  Also she went to Menards (home improvement store) and they had gotten in a ton of stuff that they normally don’t carry- toys, candy, etc and it was all pretty cheap- I guess all the registers were open and the lines were still to the back of the store (and it is a big store).  The thought just makes me shudder!!!!

I love deals and am always looking for the best price on things- but I think I will stick to online shopping, most people don’t seem to know to check the websites on Thanksgiving Day.

We didn’t have crowds where we lived here. Not like New York or California. Though some bigger places in florida did I am sure.

There was a big line at checkout that stretched from 1 wall to another in there. By the time we got done the line was short. Besides hubby wanted to exchange something. There were like 6 big tv’s on sale by the door.  NO one noticed them it seems like.  When we noticed them then other people noticed them too heheee

Yeah I have heard people sitting out since wednesday night.  Nooo not me I and my buns dissaprove most certainly dissaprove.

In one place the paper read that an employee was ran over by the crowd the other employees were shouting stop get back to help the fallen man. The people just stepped over him and kept going. Now that is sad. I know this has happened b4 at other black fridays but that is a shame people so into themselves to get to that item first b4 it sells out. Can’t they just back away from the door every one of them and let the man be tended to.  Leaving the store empty or shoppers til the man is seen for?

also at another store somewhere a man got in an argument and shot someone else.  Now this is absolutely insane.

Oh there were 2 open bags of chips and some cups of coffee left at the side of the door at office depot.  The employee helping us with our stuff picked it all up I grabbed the still cold unopen soda. ehheehe got a free soda out of it. Cool. I washed the top of it first though.

OH the smart shopper go online. Yep hubby said he was sleeping here instead of the parking lot and getting sick from the cold. Hmm that is a better alternative online shopping.

I took my mom lol I usually don’t go since I have a mild version of enochlophobia (fear of crowds) but I went with her. We left at 1 am and stood in line for 4 hours woo lol. When we got inside I had a panic attack then went back in and while she was getting my sister a camera for Christmas I bought 13 fleece blankets, a new carrier, a crinkle tube, and another dog crate lol. Then I bought myself a new laptop since mine decided to die on me. I got all of my Christmas shopping done but it took 10 hours! Never going again!

I actually had an old lady about 90 years old bite me! And it was over a box of crayons lol she bit me! Luckily she didn’t have any teeth so I just gave her the box lol.

I can’t believe that you were assaulted over a box of crayons!  LOL.    I don’t have any kids that I shop for- I don’t have kids or any nieces or nephews- so 1/2 of the big Black Friday deals don’t appeal to me.

The sucky thing about shopping online is that I can’t keep it is secret from hubby- not the amount spent but what I bought- so he already knows 2 of the presents that he is getting.  I briefly thought about it and it still was not worth the cold and crowds to be able to surprise him.  I have already gotten about 3 emails for each order- confirming, shipping, tracking, etc…  I suppose I could have used a different email address than our common one- but then I would never remember to check it.

I debated on getting either a digital photo frame or MP3 player for my technology stumped Mom- and decided on the MP3 player- she already understands how to get songs onto the computer, and I did not feel like spending all 4 days we are there scanning photos, loading, transferring, etc to load into the frame (she wouldn’t want to do it).  And worst case scenario- she can just listen to the FM radio.  LOL.

That’s funny, Katnip! I still have to help BF with the mp3 player I got him last year. It’s not that he couldn’t figure it out…but it’s an IPod and they’re evil, and every time he plugs it into a computer, it wants to delete his entire library. I don’t put up with any flack from those silly Apple machines, and would beat it into submission, even if it took me 8 hours! He gives up after 10 minutes–thus he hasn’t had any new songs for 6 months, and I’ll never buy an I____ (fill in the blank) ever again!

I was actually just thinking about scanning photos the other day. I have a load of photos from when I was in high school/college that are from a film camera. But I don’t necessarily have the film (although I might…finding out will require digging through boxes…). Anyone know of a decent-quality way of getting older pictures into the computer, other than babysitting a scanner, photo-by-photo?

sonn – i totally feel you on the fear of crowds thing. I refuse to go into a mall after Thanksgiving (especially indoor malls). Crowds make me so nervous and I’m prone to panic attacks. I totally don’t understand the people who camp out! That’s what the damned internet is for! Great deals and you don’t even have to get up! Hahaha.

My poor boyfriend works and Best Buy and had to work at 4 am to set up to open at 5. I would definitely freak the “eff” out in there on Black Friday! But it freaks me out normally… Hah.

I actually went in a shoe place that was going out of business and a k-mart down my street… in the late afternoon after the “doorbuster” crowds cleared up. Just took a breath and went in. I’ll do the rest of my shopping at odd hours online. *Shrug*
