I was just wondering if anyone else had a spiderrabbit? My baby is so little and springy. He thinks he can climb up to high places. He also jumps onto things and will actually cling if there is something to grab onto on a vertical surface. It scares me sometimes.

I like your expression “spiderrabbit” – took me a minute to figure out what you meant.

Different bunnies have different natures, and we have several here that are the climbers. There have been some real acrobats on the site, so I hope they reply here.

Meanwhile, just remember that bunnies are very smart and can be trained. You can gently remove him from the higher places where you want to forbid him to go, say No, and then make it worth his while to be on lower ground with a toy or treat. I would start getting climbing toys and structures that are safe for him so he can opt for those instead of dangerous furniture. Consider a habitat with platforms or multiple stories, or a maze haven with several stories to it, so he can climb inside those and get some jumping in right in his house. For now, you could stack some boxes or make some cardboard ramps for him to go up and down.

Monkey has climbed… yes, climbed, over the walls of her pen before. Thankfully she seems to have forgotten how lately

I thought about having my husband make something for him to play on, sort of like a little “cat tree” type thing that wouldn’t be too high. Is it safe to use carpet? He doesn’t really chew on the carpet on the floor. We have a ramp for the dog to get up on the couch and boy does he know how to use that!

LBJ10, I’m putting in a request for pictures of this spiderrabbit!

I believe Petzy calls her rabbit Neigey part mountain goat. Another member has a young dutch Demi, thats climbs like a monkey. And then there is Monkey ^ who is aptly named.

You mean a picture of him in action? That might be tough! I have just general pictures of him. I posted them in another thread, but I can post them here too. As you can see, he likes to sit on shoulders. The first two pictures are from when we first brought him home, the last one is more recent.

If you can get some action shots, that would be great!

I’ve refered to Oliver as spiderbun before, lol….you are not alone!
Oliver will jump verticaly between 2 items as if he thinks he can do a ninja back and forth until he makes it to the top. He fails miserably….each time of course, gravity always gets in the way.
He seems to have outgrown that behavior lately however.

YEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!! Babs is definately part cat … wonder if it’s a lionhead thing?? She’s been sitting on my shoulder since 8 weeks old exactly like yours LBJ. I nearly dropped dead a couple nights ago: she was playing on the floor and I’m lying on my bed. I have a high bed roughly hip high ( I’m 5ft 4) and all of a sudden this fluffball crawls up my leg!!! To be honest shes lucky I didn’t launch her further on the end of my foot in shock!!! I’ve got all sorts of boxes and stuff for her to jump on but her favourite is my ironing pile!!!!

Sammy used to climb the sides of his cage when he was small, like up to 3 months, but he no longer climbs. I think many younger rabbits do and then outgrow it. He still likes to be up high but doesn’t actually climb things anymore, just jump up.

My Peppy will sometimes jump in/out of her cage for fun, even if the cage door is open. She’s a pretty small girl, and we built the cage to be 1.5 ft in height, so it’s pretty amusing to watch!
