OK first off YAY for my grocery store. I never thought to ask for the carrot tops before as they are always put on display with the tops now. I noticed some were taken off so I asked the guy. He said they USE to do it but not anymore. I told him I would pay for it as it was for ym rabbit and he was like pay for your grocerys then come find meTwo bags later me and my son were walkin home with something new. Oreo LOVES LOVES them and seems to not want to stop eattin them haha

So here is my question can you feed a rabbit to many veggies. Oreo gets anywhere between 3 to 4 cups in the morning of three to 5 different veggies (mixed of course) he eats them all by the time I get home from work. After dinner today I thought I would give him some mroe greens I am guessin about 2 cups he ate is this to much he eats them all no problem and is not a huge rabbit……can you feed them to much weird I know just wondering I am just so happy he is so interested in everything.

We went through a bag of hay in 5 days compared to almost 2 weeks he is such a turkey sometimes

Thats great news! I’ll have to ask my grocery store if they do that too!

As far as too many veggies – I would say that yes, it is possible, but can be easily monitored. The reason being that hay somewhat provides the dryness and stability to a bunny’s poops, and if Oreo starts eating so many veggies that he is not eating his hay, then I think it may cause some digestive problems. Veggies are very healthy, but I would recommend increasing the amount slowly to make sure that Oreo doesn’t start to get runny or inconsistent poops.

i’ve read (and of course cannot find the link now) that bunnies can be fed more than the previously recommended 2 cups, up to about 4 cups. mine share approx. 6 cups betw/ them each day. i agree, that you need to watch the poop, and the hay intake. if the hay intake slows down, i would reduce the veggies a bit until it picks back up. what amount of pellets is your bunny getting? rabbits are foragers int eh wild, so it’s normal for them to be muching hays and grasses all day long.

awhile ago we had discussions about feeding pellets and veggies separately b/c of the way the digestive system works. can anyone remember what thread that was in or where the source was from?
