This is Remi, my 3 year old Holland lop girl. She is a very stubborn bunny and doesn’t allow brushing or clipping nails easy. Our biggest problem at the moment is her paws. Her nails were trimmed last month and during the trimming I noticed some irritation on the skin around the nail. I wiped her paws off and put some fleece in her crate (like pictured above, this is an old photo, same set up). It’s about a month, maybe a little over a month later, and I haven’t seen any improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can put on her paws or on the crate floor to help her? Please, I have tried everything and I just want to help my baby 😭

Where was the irritation? You said around the nail. Do you mean on top? Or is it on the “pads” of her feet? If the irritation is on the top of her toes and around the nails, then it may not be caused by the flooring.

LBJ10, the irritation is where the “pads” are. I’ll see if she’ll allow me to get a picture.

For some reason it won’t let me add a picture?

Click “Add Media”, then click the “Upload Files” tab on the pop-up window. It should let you then select the uploaded picture in the “Media Library” section to “Insert into topic”.

It won’t let me upload a new photo, it just keeps showing me the one I uploaded to the original post.

Agree with LBJ10, could be unrelated to the trimming. Ringworm sometimes shows up on the paws first.

Here’s the irritation guys! I had to go a super round about way to get this uploaded but I got it figured out. Any suggestions? I think I’m going to buy some sea grass mats from the binky bunny store and see if that does any good.

Hmm… I’m not convinced that this was caused by the flooring. But getting the grass mats won’t hurt anything.

I would suggest having a vet take a look to rule out an infection. Fungal infections (ringworm) and bacterial infections can form around the nails and the early signs often look like this.

I’ll definitely take her to the vet, what could cause ringworm? I keep her cage as clean as I can (she produces excess cecals and is on a very strict diet and sometimes I don’t find the squashed ones right away). When I do she gets a bum bath.

Ringworm can occur in rabbits that have excellent living conditions, and it’s not known why. Ringworm isn’t a worm or parasite, it is a fungal infection. Treatment consists of an oral antifungal and/or antifungal cream that you apply on the affected areas. It can require several weeks of medication.
