My girlfriend, and I have decided that we are going to get one more bunny. We went to visit this lady who has baby french lop bunnies. They get big but thats kind of what we are looking for. I have an office which houses my computer, and two cockatiels. I’m seriously considering converting this into a rabbit room/office. I have two questions.

        1. Is the pricing more expensive to neuter larger breeds of rabbits?

2.What type of personalities do french lop bunnies have (for those of you who own them)

Also on my rex bunnies I’ve started to notice each one of the girls have a couple bald spots. Could this be caused by them nipping at each other or some type of disease? Any info is much appreciated.

        Thanks

It has not been more money to spay or neuter larger size rabbits in my experience.

Where are the bald spots on your rex bunnies? Any particular area?

One has a bald spot on her neck, and the other on her feet

Maybe overgrooming? Is the skin irritated at all? Scabs? Is the skin broken?

Hmm, sounds like another case of overgrooming.  There are some links to this very topic in the first folder of the forums (Forum Rules & FAQ’s). Is the fur a different color in these spots or is it discolored to make a bunny think it is dirty and lick it more?  Moobunnay is our resident expert with this and most times it is recommended to find another outlet for them like a stuffed toy to transfer their urge to groom. Stress can also cause it as well.

                    Hello!

About overgrooming – overgrooming does generally look like smaller sized bald spots, do you ever see your rex bunnies grooming each other in the areas where the bald spots are? If the bald spots continue to get larger or don’t go away, you may have to separate the bunnies just long enough for the hair to grow back. The reason is that once the bunny sees that bald spot, they become very fixated on it, and groom it more frequently which just contributes to the problem. If you separate them to let the hair grow back, then they bunnies aren’t so concerned with that one spot. They way that I separated mine was I just put a panel of NIC cubes down the middle of their cage for 1 week, and so that way they didn’t un-bond, and could still see and lay next to each other, but they couldn’t get to those bald spots.
