        It’s over.

My two boys got their socialization time as usual in the bathroom yesterday, but instead of trying to kill each other, they just followed each other around the wall for about an hour.  Fang is a real energizer bunny, he keeps going and going, and Smokey just got tired of avoiding him.  After about 20 minutes of circling each other and making warning nips, they just collapsed on the floor together, exhausted, and napped nose to nose.  My husband came into the bathroom, saw them lying together on the floor (they wouldn’t even get up when he came in!), and said they could share the living room again.

I spluttered that it was too soon, that they might start fighting and hurt each other, that we had to be careful and wait and see for at least another week, but he had already picked them up, marched them out into the living room, and put them on the sofa.  He got the little plastic container he keeps their cheerios in, and rattled it.  They hopped right into his lap, and ate together from the container, just like they used to.

He stayed out in the living room last night with them on the sofa, and they curled up with him.  No fighting, no biting, nothing.  I woke up at 4:30 this morning, sure that I’d find a dead rabbit, but all I found was two bunnies snuggled together on the end table, sleeping like little angels.  the rug was NOT land-mined with poo, there wasn’t any urine anywhere, and best of all, no telltale ‘cotton-balls’ that were a sure sign of fighting.

I was so relieved that I wanted to cry, then my husband wanted to know what the hell was wrong with me.

How does he DO this?  I’ve said it before, he’s like a Rabbit Idiot-Savant, he instinctively knows bunnies without knowing anything about them.

lol! well that’s awesome! do not separate them at all at this point. i’d recommend they be in sight of each other continuously for the next 1-2 weeks.

Shouldn’t be a problem, since Fang never lets Smokey out of his sight.  Stalker bunny…..

You do have to be prepared that there may be some ‘tiffs’ from time to time. You just have to let them happen. I’ve said it many times, I often find tufts of Dono’s fur in the pen – about once a week – but they’re still snuggle buddies.
