Ok so I was just wondering. I read on the site that you should clean the anal glands once a month.  I know with dogs that most dogs do this themselves so you dont have to do it.  If you start then you have to keep doing it.  Well since I have had Loki I havent done her anal glands.  Is this a bad thing? She doesnt seem in pain or anything and her butt doesnt look gross or weird.

Different bunnies have different levels of odor and issues regarding their anal glands. I am a coward when it comes to cleaning them, but I would definitely ask my vet on a check up or nail trim to examine and clean them.

This site recommends you check  them once a month/not necessarily clean them that often. You might never have to actually clean them. To be honest, I don’t get round to checking then that regularly, it’s more like every 3 months for me. But I kind know now what kind of build up they get if any, so I let it go a bit longer.

If you unsure about it all, as Pam said, get your vet to check them or take Loki to a local rabbit rescue that offers grooming type services.  Ypu get someone else to take care of the iccky stuff and it helps them raise funds.
