I’ve never taken my boys outside but it is pretty nice today and I was thinking about setting up a pen outside so that they could have some play time.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to try a bonding session with the boys outside?  They’ve been seperated since Friday night because Acorn decided to go digging at Henri’s butt again and I didn’t want to take the chance that he would bite him again. Both of their incisions are still healing (although they are almost gone, they’re not quite) and I didn’t want to cause Henri any problems.

I was actually thinking about setting up the pen outside as a way to give Lilly and I some more one on one times (without the cats or anything even, but I’m not sure if I should be taking her outside yet or not. I got to thinking about it though and since outside would be a completely neutral zone for the boys, I think it might be a good place to let them meet again and see how it goes.

        What do you guys think?

i suppose you could.  i’m assuming you’ll not leave their side.  they may be a little more intrigued with outside than each other.

I know nothing about bonding but should you wait until their incisions are completely healed?????I can envision a stitch busting open if they ended up fighting…that would be awful

Of course I wouldn’t, I was going to make a pretty small pen too if I took both out so that it would be easier to have them both on hand and I would have two carriers handy in case of any escape/fight attempts.

Their incisions are pretty much healed. I was planning on waiting a little bit longer but a few days ago I found them laying by eachother and decided to see how it went. They never did any fighting. I just seperated them as soon as I saw the digging behavior because I didn’t want to take a chance.

Taking them outdoors will put them into an unknown, neutral area with plenty of distractions. It is something many people suggest to help with bonding. I’m not sure if I would do it, but then again what do I know about actually getting bonding to work. I’d say it’s safe.
