        i wanna know what ampicillin shot is for?is it safe for bunnies?

          Pen-g procaine shots are safe. Is this what you are talking about? Why do you ask also?

            oh cuz i found my late bunny’s vet invoice and they gave her that and i dont know what it is.i had a bunny last year that died for unknown reasons.we rushed her to the vet and she was given sugar water, ampicillin and dexamethasone shot before she passed.i just wanna make sure cuz i read once that “illin” medicine(like amoxicillin)isnt good for bunnies.

              I would say no to ampicillin however I wouldn’t say that is what caused your rabbit to pass away. Any penicillin given orally is dangerous. However pen-g shots are fine however.

                thanks!im not blaming them though.i know they tried the best they can to save my bunny.i just got got curious about what it is.

                  Just to be clear–since you said they gave your bunny a shot, I’m assuming it was an injection, not orally? As Sarita stated penicillin given orally is dangerous.                       I’m sorry to hear you lost a bunny. Was it some time ago? Did they vet at the time explain why they were giving those meds? Was it the vet you now see or an emergency vet. It’s hard when all the questions come afterward. I find myself wishing I ask the vet things while I was actually there. I often think of a bunch of things after I come home.

                        yeah.my bunny died last year.i sure wish i asked those questions.me and my boyfriend didnt have any closure yet.the vet we brought her to wasnt bunny savvy at all.he was actually blaming us for her death.my boyfriend was so brokenhearted for days.after that incident,we decided to look for a new vet.we found one and he’s really caring and knowledgeable.
