My wife is typically the one who does the bonding sessions while I clean the pens. From what she says they behave pretty good and have little if no problems.

When I finish and go see how they are doing/ help that’s when they start misbehaving, nipping etc. is it my presence that’s causing the issue?

It is possible but don’t take it personal – your rabbits are learning to trust each other and that can be stressful for them. I am pretty sure this won’t always be the case that you are upsetting them in the bonding process though.

How long have you and your wife been at the bonding process with them?

Newbun, it’s not your actual presence that may be disturbing them. It’s that you’re the “bad rabbit.” I mean “cop.” I mean, you’re the person who disturbs their territorial markers. Bunnies view us cleaning as a severe upsetting of their private space. Your wife gets to play “good cop” by simply sitting with them and playing. Rabbits are extremely possessive of their litterboxes, cages and exercise pens.

I’d suggest spending daily personal time with the bunnies, either with or without your wife.
