So I’ve been sleeping on the couch. Yeah, I know, but I’m stressed out due to money issues and I can’t fall asleep in my bed. So I fall asleep while watching tv. A couple of times now, Lolli has jumped up on me. She doesn’t do much but sniff around and look at me with her ears perked up. She definitely doesn’t wanted to be petted. She just kind of hangs out for a few minutes and leaves.
I wonder how often she does this. Cause I’ve only woken up twice to her being on me. And I’m asleep but maybe not in a deep sleep. So I don’t know. In the morning, I feel like I dreamed it cause she NEVER does this when I’m awake. lol
Any clue to why she’s doing this?
Maybe she’s checking sure you’re still alive? A dead owner will do her no good.. who would feed her breakfast?! ![]()
That’s what I’ve been thinking! LOL I do sleep like the dead apparently. ![]()
I’ve fallen asleep on the living room couch many times. Chacha will THUMP and then jump onto the couch (as a warning? I don’t know) and play in my blankets. Sometimes she’ll sit there. I wake up and try to pet her, but she gets away. There was only one time she let me pet her while I was laying down. It was so cute ![]()
Perhaps if you’re lying very still, she figures it’s a good time to check you out more thoroughly than she would while you’re awake.
Then of course, she has to scarper if you should move, and pretend she was doing nothing of the sort. ^_^ Will she stay up there if you just watch her from a corner of your eye for awhile? It would be interesting to see how long you can get her to remain with you on the couch.
I think if she does jump on me again and if I wake up, I won’t talk to her or anything and see how long she stays. Maybe she is just taking the opportunity to check me out without me moving and talking to her. lol
Maybe she’s just checking that you’re sound asleep so she can commence with all the mischief she undoubtedly has planned!
My rabbits do this too. I woke up one time because Maddie decided to sit in my face.
It’s way funnier when it happens to someone else who’s staying over at your place.
“Rachel, your friggin rabbit got into your bed last night and climbed on my head when I was sleeping.”

Oh yes. I had a friend stay with me for a week when I just had Eddie. He had to check out who was in mom’s bed, so apparently he ended up climbing all over her head. I didn’t even know he could jump that high on my bed or that he’d even go up there. LOL
I can understand Lolli jumping on me when I’m asleep. It’s really the only time she can check me out without me talking to her or trying to pet her.
I don’t know why she does it, but I can totally see it happening. A week or so ago I fell asleep on the couch after my husband left for work. I woke up to Newton doing Bunny 500’s all over me. He definitely doesn’t do that when I’m awake. Crazy bunny.
I’m having the exact opposite problem at the moment. I am wide awake, trying to work on a paper, and Leopold (the lop) won’t leave me alone! I’m sitting on the couch with my computer and he came over and jumped right into my lap. I petted him, but then his curiosity seemed to be getting the better of him because he was trying to stick his head in my mouth! I told him that was enough and nudged him down the dog ramp. He circled the coffee table and then jumped up in my lap again. This time he’s trying to bite my arm and is pulling at my sweater. Sheesh! So I put him down again, and then he’s up again, down again, up again, AGH! So now he’s back in his play room.
rofl yes it is funnier when it happens to someone else.
My son was sleeping on the couch and Cotton jumped up there right in his face. Was hilarious

“he was trying to stick his head in my mouth!” actually made me laugh out loud really stupidly just now.
Frankie gets like that too though with the nonstop pestering. It seems like it’s 10x worse when you’re trying to get something accomplished. Today it was while I was wrapping presents. He kept trying to stick his head under my hand, was putting his paws up on me, and even gave me a fuzzy nose down my buttcrack that was peeking out a bit. Oy!
I think they visit us on the couch because they’re curious – why is mom over there? or something……but I do that too (fall asleep on the couch with the TV on) but with my birdie (jenday conure) who likes to snuggle under the blanket with me – go figure! And my bun knows the bird is jealous of him and generally tries to keeps his distance and stay off the couch. But I’ve been able to coax him to hop up onto the couch for a raisin but he doesn’t stay long after eating it.

I honestly have no clue what he found so interesting about my mouth. Maybe it was something I ate. He was being pretty annoying that night though, like he knew I was busy and so he HAD to bother me. ![]()

When I just had Eddie, he used to be the same with me. He’d jump up on me and constantly dig at my blankets. Drove me absolutely nuts cause he wouldn’t go away. lol I think he got a little too bonded with me. It’s why I got Lolli cause he really did get to the point where he always had to be on me. And forget it if I was trying to do something. He’d follow me around while I was cleaning and get mad and nip my ankles cause I wasn’t paying attention to him. Not recommending you get him a friend, but Lolli really did help. LOL He’d still do the same stuff, but it was alot more mellower.
I think if you try to pet them they don’t like it…if your clearly busy or otherwise disposed…then they’d like some attention.
My favorite was when Kokanee would jump on my boyfriend when he was asleep on the couch, stomp and dig, then burst off and binky all of the house in a victory lap. She was something ![]()
