This may sound strange. But, I’m not personally allergic to hay but I talk to a lot of people that are and I’m looking for some info to give them. I also see so many people on craigslist getting rid of their pets cause of an allergy. And I want to be able to tell them they don’t need to get rid of it.

What are some of the options for people when it comes to allergies to hay? I’ve read you can switch their hay. Can it be switched to any other kind of hay (other than alfalfa) or only certain kinds?

        Any information would be helpful.

Orchard grass, oat, meadow grass, are all good replacements for timothy hay I too am allergic to timothy hay, and find that orchard grass and oat do not affect me at all.

I’m allergic to all kind of hay and little bit of rabbits’ furs.

All I have to do is to clean up pets’ mess frequently like two to three times a day. I vacuum in pet room about two or three times a week.

I also have air filter machine with UV light (design to destroy bacteria) in pet room and it helps a lot.

Boyfriend is allergic to hay, all types it seems and maybe bunny fur. We keep the buns hay etc in a room he doesn’t have to go into much, I clean their room up daily and vacuuming helps. One with an air filter (or several) attached helps more.
