Hiya guys, long time no problems, lol.

So I’ve had Gwydionn for about two months now, and he seems to really like it here. He plays with me, he loves to be held, he doesn’t really fight with Loki unless she tries to steal his food…

I felt really bad because up until last week, he had to be in Loki’s old cage (which I got for her when she was 8 weeks, and since he’s a mini lop he’s a LOT bigger) well now he’s in my Golden Retrievers old cage. I’ve built him some shelves to jump on, he has tons of chew toys hanging around the cage, litterbox, and a nice blanket so he doesn’t get cold on the plastic.

When he was in the smaller cage, he used to chew on the bars and then just stare at the wall. Even when he had toys, he’d just STARE at the wall. I’d let him out to play, and he’d just sit there staring at the wall. I figured maybe he was bored because his cage was so small, but now that he has his huge mansion, he STILL just stares at the wall :[

It’s just a painted white wall, nothing interesting.

        Any thoughts?

Congrats on getting another rabbit I like his name! How old is he?

Is he using the shelf at all in the new set up? Have you tried to test his vision or hearing?

He could just be sleeping when seemingly staring at the wall. They do often sleep with eyes open.

I would take him in to a rabbit savvy vet as soon as you can. Since rabbits are predatory animals, they typically try to hide any health problems. There could be something serious wrong and this is just the way he’s showing it. I remember my little guy stopped eating out of the blue a few months ago. Besides not being too hungry, he seemed fine. I took him in just in case, and thank God I did because his front teeth had grown too long and become quite painful! The biggest lesson I learned- Take your bunny in if you suspect anything’s wrong! Hopefully everything works out for you and your buns! Good luck!

Are you sure he’s not asleep when he’s doing this? Rabbits will often fall asleep while sitting up with their eyes open. You can usually tell when their nose stops twitching and sometimes they rock a little bit. Otto will do this and stare off into space for long periods of time.

He’s probably just sleeping, my bunny sleeps with her eyes open a lot of the time, especially in the meatloaf position. She only really closes them to sleep when she’s in a flopped-out, deep sleep. I only can really tell she’s sleeping when her nose stops twitching.

I totally forgot they sleep with their eyes closed…but here’s his new set up.

The changed setup looks really good! Change usually causes some stimulation of their responses to it, just like for people and other animals. In other threads some members have come up with a good treat-toy – easily made with an empty paper egg carton. just make little holes in the indentations, fill the eggcups with a few of his rabbit pellets. Give to bunny. Or other things can fill the eggcups – such as a spinach leaf, a few strawberries, a few freeze-dried banana slices, an alfalfa cube, even hay, etc. whatever is his or her pleasure, close the carton and latch it shut, give to bunny. See if it makes a difference… Good luck~

Does your bunny have a big enough opening in the hidey-house? It looks small compared to his size?
