        Hi everybunny!

My babies, Bailey and Lilly are young, almost 2 months old and I wondered about giving them Alfalfa hay as a treat a few times a week, in a dish (small crock about 1/2 cup) I am waiting for their shipment of Oxbow 15/23 that is ordered. I wondered if this was TOO much? They have unlimited Timmy hay and  I am switching them from PANR (Purina Advance Nutrition Rabbit) to the Oxbow. Any suggestions? They seem to do well on the alfalfa 2-3x a week and have healthy bathroom habits. I am just worried because I have never had bunnies so young and recently weaned from their mom. Thanks!

My vet told me when we first got Monkey at 7.5 weeks to have her on alfalfa hay daily, unlimited amounts. Soemthign about more stuff that baby bunnies need to grow. Too bad she hates alfalfa… *sigh*

Ok good, they really love the alfalfa hay I just didn’t want to give them too much. That lil Monkey keeps you on your toes!

Make sure you are offering the grass hay as well – they need both and you don’t want them to start shunning the grass hay.

When i was fostering baby bunnies, I was told it would be OK to have them on alfalfa until they were 6 months old. Mine were having half timothy hay, and half alfalfa, and the same with the pellets, so they were getting quite a bit of alfalfa, and they seemed to do just fine with it. I think the amount you are giving them sounds good, some calories for a growing bunny, but still just a little bit so they keep eating their timothy hay.
