Okay so our first attempt at bonding did not work and we actually had to turn the new bunny back over to the rescue group. We are starting again with a new female for our bunny dash. So today was their first meeting they have been housed in the same room but separated but could still see each other and that went good so we moved on to the neutral area. Everything went pretty well between the bunnies there was an occasional mounting and a little nip here and there but at one point we were petting both bunnies and our new girl would lunge at our hand and growl when we would pet dash. She is sweetheart any other time is this something normal?

Totally normal. She is wanting to be dominant, and doesn’t like Dash being petted when she isn’t being petted.

Yep, I agree with MB that it’s normal.

totally normal. It takes a lot of time and patience to truly bond bunnies (not like the non-lasting bonds young bunnies can form).

yes normal, and be careful. I had a very, very tough time bonding two bunnies a few years ago and I still have scars on my hands and legs from when they would turn around and attack me after their tiffs. it was almost like, “how could you be putting me through this??”. it sounds like your bonding is going ok though, if they aren’t just trying to kill each other.
