Pinky is around 9 years old and Sara Jane is around 5. I was thinking of putting the new baby Charlie with them, but I was just thinking it might be too much stress for Pinky? He acts really happy and healthy. I was also thinking of taking him in for senior blood work, but will that also stress him out too much? I would’t be able to take both him and Sara Jane because she is so huge.

I guess first of all are Pinky and Sara Jane already bonded? If that’s the case, then I would not change things up for the pair.

          Otherwise…

It’s so hard to tell with the older rabbits how they might react – he might like to have a friend and sometimes the older rabbits seem to be somewhat more mellow but it’s really hard to tell until you try. The majority of my rabbits are over 7 years old so not quite as old as Pinky yet but they seem to be more easy going for the most part. A few of my females are still spunky though.

As for the bloodwork – it might very well stress him out but if your vet has experience with rabbits then they might be able to make it less stressful. I think going to the vet for any rabbit is stressful for the most part.

I’ve had bloodwork done for many of my rabbits and they’ve been fine and at Pinky’s age I think it’s a good idea.

Yes they are bonded. Have been for years. I thought it might be good to put Charlie in because Pinky is so old. If he died then Sara Jane would have someone. Otherwise, MufASa and Lily are only just bonded. L ily is still running away from him but will put her head down for grooming. Could Charlie go with them? I’d hate to leave him by himself, although he goes to work almost every day.

You know, I don’t think it would hurt to try then and it could be a win-win situation all around if you could get it to work. Pinky might even benefit from the extra attention as well.

Thank you . He still has about a week on his quarrantine. Three weeks, right?

After the neuter? Well, it won’t be a problem for him getting Sara Jane pregnant since she’s spayed. It’s only an issue if the other female rabbit is not altered.
