So I am completely freaked about the rabbits. If you guys read my post from about a month ago you would know we had a rabbit sick and was taking him to the vet. Well several vet trips after that and he still isn’t better! Ill list his symptons and them tell you what the vet said
symptoms: This isn’t even really a list. The only thing wrong is he cant balance himself. The vet said she noticed a small head tilt but other than that he seems fine. He is eating. However when he hops he stays towards a wall to lean on.
now what the vet said
The first trip he was diagnosed with either an ear infection or something neurological. She gave Peanut Butter a antibiotic for him to take for 5 days and then gave him a steroid shot. She said it would help with nerves. Now he lives with his 2 brothers and 1 sister. We were told to separate him. So he is in a different cage still.
Almost right after this we had another rabbit start acting odd as well. Creamer was eating just fine and completely balanced but he was lethargic and had a head tilt.
We took peanut butter back to the vet the Saturday of about 2 weeks ago. He had some improvement. He was much more balanced only small stumbles here and there. she gave him another steroid shot saying that should help him all the way. He continued to get better and better
So that Wednesday we took creamer into the vet. When we got there I told the vet about how Peanut butter still wasn’t acting right. She said that they had the symptoms of EC and she was going to prescribe all for rabbits to panacure for 2 weeks.
well its 2 weeks later and creamer still has a head tilt, but he is a lot more active. I do understand head tilts can take months to cure. \
However Peanut butter has only seemed to have gotten worse. I don’t know much more that the vet can do for him? I am going to make another vet visit for as soon as possible. I have been making sure he gets all the things he needs. He is giving the correct amounts of pellets, clean water, hay, and veggies every day as well as the other rabbits.
Do you guys have any thoughts as to what this might be? Anything maybe the vet might have missed?
Also I have to go on a trip at the end of this month and I am extremely worried about them. I already have someone to take care of them however the rabbits cant go to their house they will have to stay home. Should I leave the vets number for them incase something goes wrong while I am gone? It is only a 4 day trip but I am worried!
Thank you all for your help!
