We were going to get Sucre neutered last week but on the day of his appointment we had a snow storm and we had to cancel. Now we are moving into our new house tomorrow and I’m not sure how long I should wait. I know rabbits aren’t a big fan of change and I want to be careful to not stress him out from moving and neutering too close together. Do you think a week is long enought to let him adjust to the new place before we spring this whole neutering thing on him?

I wouldn’t worry about it really. When I brought Smudge home, she was spayed the next day and she bounced back fine. It might be easier on him to get all the stress done at once rather than just letting him relax and then spring it on him after he thinks everything is all good

The timing might work out well. You’ll be keeping him confined somewhat for recovery. Keeping them in limited space in a new place is a good idea too so they keep litter habits better. Gives you a chance to bunny proof the house too. Sounds like a win-win.

Neutering is a relatively simple surgery. I think you’d be fine to reschedule it now.

I definitely would get it overwith asap. Agree that the confinement will happen anyway, so let him rest while you unpack, set things up, and bunny-proof the new home. He can then start to venture out one room at a time – better for healing post-surgery, better for exploring the new place.

Oh ditto-I’ve actually seen quite a few dogs/cats & rabbits on the day of neuter (because I literally make my friends fix their pets I get stuck volunteering for ‘vet duty’ picking up and dropping off at the clinic to be fixed &#160  and most are pretty much themselves (Slightly woozy) but otherwise totally fine-it’s a pretty simple thing especially when they are young Also-I’ve done two moves with bunnies and let me tell you-they really didn’t care I just made sure their area was set up with all their stuff and put them in and they did fine

I’ve moved a lot too, and I forgot that. You set up their habitat exactly the same way it was before, feed them at the same time, and they settle right in. In fact, once his neuter is over and he is feeling well, he will find exploring a new home stimulating.
