So, for a long time now, I have seen the bonding tip of using banana on the head of bunnies to help the process. I decided to try this last night with our 4 we’re trying to bond. I’m thinking I missed something lol. The bunnies wouldn’t look at each other at first and acted embarrassed. They did look very silly.  Roxie finally went up to Hazel and cleaned her head off. This was great, because these 2 girls have been very wary of each other so far. Then Roxie moved onto her current mate, Caesar, and cleaned his head. But Roxie herself and Obie ended up shaking their banana mush all over the cabinets, floor and fridge lol. The date overall was uneventful. Roxie and Hazel have both mounted Obie. Caesar seems to be accepted by everyone, but watches things from a distance. The 2 girls go nose to nose, Roxie presenting her head for grooming. But there have been no fights or biting really. Some snuggling. Many grooming attempts. I think its going well so far. I do have a question though. Obie has been trying to groom the girls, but they act like it hurts and he’s horrible at it and run off almost offended. Do some bunnies suck at grooming others? Otherwise, they seem to like him fine. Below are the bananaheads.

I found with the banana head thing the bunnies can get a little aggressive trying to eat the banana, I had one bunny that would dig on the others head. So if they act like it hurts, it’s because it probably does haha. Maybe Obie is just grooming aggressively. My bunnies have been bonded for a couple months and grooming still seems aggressive to me. I heard it becomes more loving and gentle over time. The important thing is that you are assisting in creating a pseudo hierarchy for each bunny that is groomed, each one groomed thinks they are top bunny for a little bit and it helps to ease tensions.

Also Caesar is so adorable, he looks like a stuffed animal and I’m glad bonding seems to be going well for you! Banana heads made my bunnies look so filthy for a couple days, it was silly.

The banana thing didn’t work for us (wish it had).

About aggressive grooming tho, with my bonded pair, there have been times when little Marlee has held Moshi down to groom him when he wasn’t in the mood. It’s like “Sit still so I can fix your fur!”

Roxie can be an aggresive groomer. I have seen her chase Caesar just to lick him. I think with some time, they will sort it out.

Awwwww…..they are so cute!!!! I had tried to use banana when I was trying to bond my boys (one now at the Bridge) and there was only 1 way grooming. Didn’t work though.
